An
erect-foliose lichen growing loose on the soil of the tundra or
caught up in masses of dry sedge leaves. In contrast to A.
cucullata, the thallus is flat, and the base is yellow rather
than purple. These species grow everywhere in the world where there
is alpine or Arctic tundra. |

A small
bright yellow, erect-foliose lichen growing in tight masses on the
alpine tundra. This usually occurs together with Allocetraria,
Thamnolia, and Dactylina. It never bears apothecia, but
small black dots on the margins are pycnidia. |
