House in Campos
Architect: Luiz Eduardo Indio da Costa
Location: Pedro do Rio, Petrópolis, Brazil
Photography: Mario Grisolli
This Brazilian house stands on a mountainside and has just one large floor, which covers 4,305 sq. ft. (400 m2). It is a second home and was designed from an existing steel frame at the meeting point of indoor and outdoor spaces, evoking lightness, openness, and warmth. The house is L-shaped and goes around part of the garden and pool. The architectural structure mixes strong and hard-wearing materials with the ethereal consistency of the glass.

An arbor that changes the extension of the roof is ideal for creating indoor-outdoor spaces. In this case, it is a mobile platform.

It can be a good idea to lay wooden decking on terraces to prevent reflected sunlight bouncing up and bothering your eyes, especially when it is at its brightest.

If you live in an area without too much pollution, you can put a telescope on the terrace and enjoy a starry sky.
