Chapter One

Lina Sommerson moved into a new apartment complex, glad to be in a better area with less crime. Her new job as a legal secretary allowed her to afford the new place without a roommate, and she smiled as she retrieved the mail from her new mailbox. She’d only been in the apartment for three days and hadn’t expected mail so soon. One letter lay in the box, addressed to her, printed neatly by hand, with a return address of an apartment in the complex.

Eagerly, she tore open the envelope, expecting a welcome letter, but was surprised to see an invitation instead.
You are cordially invited to attend our Key Club Party, Friday evening, at 7:00 PM - Apartment C-12. Confidential. Come unaccompanied.

A Key Club Party? What’s that? she wondered. She hoped that didn’t mean handing over her apartment keys to strangers, then shrugged off the notion. She would simply take some sort of old key and fake it. On her way back to her apartment, she located the apartment for the party, not far from her own, and decided to go to the party and get to know her neighbors, maybe make a friend or two. A party would be a fun way to break the ice, making her smile as she went in and lay the invitation on the counter in the kitchen.

Friday after work, Lina took her time getting dressed, wearing a clingy silk dress, low cut to show cleavage, and short enough to show a little thigh. Her three-inch heels made her shapely legs look longer, giving her the desired effect. Perhaps she’d capture the attention of a sexy man who would ask her out.

With her make-up perfect, her long brown hair in a French twist, and dainty gold jewelry, she stood back to look at her reflection in the mirror. She liked what she saw, reached over and grabbed a bottle of exotic perfume, and spritzed a little on. Ready at last, she went to the kitchen to retrieve the invitation, then went out the door.

Lina saw people going into the apartment as she approached. Some couples, some alone in the mix, seeming to be as many men as women, causing her to become nervous.
She rang the bell, and a young woman near her own age answered the door. Lina presented her invitation and introduced herself.
“Come in! Grab a drink and make yourself comfortable. Almost everyone is here, so mingle and introduce yourself! I’m Barb,” the woman said.
Lina walked in, found the bar, and requested white wine. She didn’t want to drink and get ditzy among people she didn’t know. She took a small sip of the wine, and walked around among people, smiling a hello now and then.
A few moments later, Barb roamed around with a large silver bowl, holding it out to the men. They dropped keys into the bowl. At first, Lina was going to get out the key she had brought, but Barb passed her by, and Lina finally noticed it was only the men dropping in keys.
Puzzled, she watched as Barb finished collecting keys, then she went to the bar and set the bowl down.
“OK, everybody!” she shouted to get everyone’s attention. “Who wants to go first?”
Lina, not sure what the rules were, kept quiet. A striking blonde swished her shapely butt as she raised her hand and moved forward. The men whooped and whistled. The blonde closed her eyes, reached into the bowl, and pulled out a set of keys. She held them into the air for all to see, and a man stepped forward, looking all too happy and eager. He wrapped his arms around the blonde, and they went out the front door.
Lina blinked stupidly, her lips pursed. What are they doing? she wondered, and watched as another woman went forward and drew a set of keys from the bowl. A man moved through the maze, gave the woman a passionate kiss, then they, too, left.
Assuming this must be some kind of dating club, where a woman would go out with the man whose keys she pulled from the bowl, she found it fascinating to watch.
“Lina is a newcomer to our little get-together, so let’s have her come up next!” Barb called out.
Very unsure, and feeling embarrassingly put on the spot, she reluctantly moved forward and heard some wolf whistles, some appreciative groans, and a few whoops, causing her face to go scarlet. She made it to the bar, looked at the jumble of keys, and reached in.
Holding her hand up, she revealed a set of three keys on a ring and a small flat penlight. Several men groaned in obvious disappointment, but a man made his way through the maze of people, his dark eyes locked on her.
Lina had never seen such an intense look on a man’s face as she saw on his. His hair was long and wavy, hanging about his shoulders, and he had a neatly trimmed beard and mustache that was very appealing on him. He was tall, over six feet, muscular, and moved with an air of confidence that mesmerized her.
When he reached her at the bar, he took his keys, then wrapped an arm about her waist and pulled her to him. The next moment, his lips claimed hers, and Lina couldn’t move. So enraptured by the warm, sensual kiss, even breathing became difficult.
Lina thought the kiss ended all too soon. Before she realized it, they were going out the door.
“Where’s your apartment?” he asked.
Lina looked up at him, meeting those hypnotizing dark eyes, his deep voice sending a delightful shiver down her spine. Without thinking, she pointed across the parking lot.
With his arm around her, they walked over, and Lina fumbled in her purse for the keys. When she found them, he took them from her and opened the door.
Immediately inside, he pulled her into his strong arms, his lips claimed hers, and Lina could not think to resist. She’d never met a man like him, and she sensed that he definitely wanted her. His tongue invaded her mouth, tasting, teasing, exploring, and Lina became lost. His hands moved over her, pulled her close, then cupped her breasts.
Lina felt an ache between her legs, burning deep in her belly, and she knew she wanted him. Without reservation, she reached for the buttons of his shirt, and as she fumbled with them, he seemed impatient and jerked it off over his head. He then reached for the back zipper of her dress, slid it down, then pulled it off her shoulders. As it slid to the floor, he unsnapped her bra and let it fall. Lina stepped out of her heels and the dress, standing before him in only a tiny thong. He stood back to look at her.
“You’re incredible,” he told her as his eyes moved over her. “Just beautiful.”
Lina lowered her head to hide her embarrassment. She’d never had a man see her naked before, and to have a total stranger doing so in her apartment was a bit unsettling, yet exciting at the same time.
Liking his muscular build, she told him just above a whisper, “You look awesome.”
He lifted her chin so that she looked at him, then he lowered his head and kissed her. His arms went around her, and she was crushed against his chest. Feeling his chest hair against her nipples caused them to harden, and a small little sound escaped her.
When he broke the kiss, it was to trail to her neck, where he gently nibbled her skin. Lina had a sharp intake of breath, and the heat between her legs became an inferno. She felt moisture, and as he moved down to take a nipple into his hot mouth, she knew there was no turning back. Whatever he wanted from her, she would give.
He slid her tiny thong over her hips, then his lips moved down her flat stomach to her mound. Her clit protruded from the folds, and when his mouth closed over it, Lina’s legs almost buckled. She let out a small cry, and her hands went into his hair. His hands pushed her legs apart, then his thumbs parted her folds. He pressed his mouth to her, and sucked harder on her clit.
Lina’s legs shook, and she wasn’t sure she could stand much longer. Her breathing came hard and ragged, and she was sure she’d faint if he continued. She thought he must have sensed her weakness, for he eased his mouth from her and straightened. He then scooped her into his arms.
“Where’s the bedroom?”
Breathless, she pointed the way, and then wrapped her arms about his neck as he carried her. He let her feet touch the floor by the bed, then he whipped back the comforter and top sheet. He then urged her onto the bed, and as she lay down, he stripped off the rest of his clothes.
Lina gasped at the size of his cock. Although sexually innocent, she’d seen pictures, but never anything so huge. It looked at least a foot long, and as big around as her wrist. The head alone was tremendous, and she had sudden serious doubts she could take that into her.
As he advanced toward her, Lina’s eyes were glued to his massive cock, and she scooted back on the bed in a defensive manner. She tore her eyes away and looked up at him.
“I…I don’t even know who you are,” she said, her voice shaky.
He stopped and sat on the bed facing her. “I’m Ryan Silver. I live in Apartment D-6. I’m single, a law enforcement officer, and I think you are by far the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.”
Lina turned a delicate shade of pink. “I’m Lina Sommerson, single, a legal secretary, and I’ve never done this before. I didn’t realize what a key party was…”
Ryan smiled. “The woman sleeps with the man whose keys she draws.”
“I realize that now, but…” Her voice trailed, not sure she wanted him to know she was still a virgin, still naive about the world of men and sex.
“You can change your mind, if you want. I’m not going to force you, but I have to admit, I would love to finish what we started.”
Her face went scarlet. “No one ever did what you were doing.”
Ryan put a finger under her chin, forcing her head up until she looked at him. He smiled warmly. “I’d very much like to continue. I can promise you that you won’t regret it.”
Lina had no doubts of that, just from what little she’d experienced with him already. She had the distinct notion that he could and would ruin it for any other man.
Having wanted a husband for her first and only lover seemed like a silly notion now, especially in this day and age, and knowing a small taste of the excitement that awaited her, she finally nodded.
Ryan leaned forward and captured her lips with his own, and as his hands moved to cup her breasts, his fingers and thumbs tweaked her nipples. Lina moaned and arched toward him, and Ryan slid his arms around her to pull her down onto the bed. When her arms eased up his chest to circle about his neck, one hand slid low, down her back to her butt, then around to her flat stomach and to her soft mound.
Lina automatically parted her legs, allowing him access to her most feminine places. She moaned when his finger slid inside her folds and rubbed her clit. Nothing could have prepared her for the sensations that coursed through her. Blood rushed through her veins, her heart doubled its pace, and all thoughts vanished. She arched her hips toward his hand, and when he slid a finger into her tight opening, a small cry escaped, captured by his mouth.
For several long moments, his finger thrust in and out of her, rubbing her clit with each stroke. Lina’s arms slid around to his back and pulled him closer as her body arched.
Ryan tore his lips from hers. “Ahh, Lina, you’re so responsive. I want you to cum for me.”
Not sure what that meant, but sensing that it could only be a good thing with him, she moaned again as he kissed down her stomach. He removed his fingers from inside her. She became aware that he scooted down the bed, and when he pushed her legs wide, she had no thoughts of resistance.
His hands smoothed up the insides of her thighs, then his fingers spread her folds. “Beautiful,” he breathed, his voice husky. Then his mouth clamped around her large clit, and he sucked it into his mouth, his tongue bathing over it.
“Oooohhh,” Lina moaned, her fingers curling into the sheet. Her legs shook, and her hips came off the bed. “Please…”
The tip of his tongue found the center bud, and he flicked over it in lightning fast strokes. He pushed up on her folds, exposing the bud from its hood, and then he sucked the little protrusion hard as his tongue vibrated it.
Lina’s mind swirled with lust. Nothing mattered but the feel of Ryan’s mouth and tongue, and she didn’t want him to stop.
Ryan knew she was close to an orgasm. Her legs shook, her hips writhed, and she whimpered almost non-stop.
He inserted two fingers into her again, curled them upwards, and stroked in and out. Her clit swelled in his mouth, and he continued his onslaught.
Lina was sure she would go mad. “Ryan…Ryan!” She felt something powerful happening, she couldn’t breathe, and then something inside her exploded, convulsed, bringing a hoarse, low scream from her. Juices spurted, captured by Ryan’s eager mouth.
Shaking, limp, and breathless, Lina could not move. She felt Ryan move over her, position himself between her parted legs, and then he pushed the massive head of his cock into her wet opening.
Lina cried out as pain shot through her. Ryan stopped, began massaging her clit as he gently rocked against her, then with one hard thrust, he buried his cock to the hilt inside her. He felt the tear, heard her scream as she buried her face into his shoulder, and her nails dug into his skin. She shook violently with shock.
Ryan stopped, knowing he’d hurt her. “Lina…” His tone was incredulous. “I didn’t know…”
Lina sobbed with the pain, her body shook, and she clutched Ryan to her, wanting him to comfort her in some way. He slid his arms under her and held her tightly, planting gentle kisses on her face. Too late now, all he could do was try to make it better. He hoped he hadn’t torn her too badly.
When Lina relaxed a bit, her sobs lessening, Ryan lifted his head and looked down at her. “I didn’t mean to hurt you. I swear…I didn’t know.”
“I know you didn’t,” she managed. “I should have told you.”
“I’m so sorry I hurt you.” He kissed her face, then settled on her lips for a long moment. He reached between them and let his finger tickle her clit, and when Lina moaned and her body relaxed, he started to pull out of her.
Her hands went to his hips and pulled him back to her. “Don’t stop,” she said softly,
Ryan eased back into her, and as her fluids made him slick, he began a slow rhythm in and out of her. Gently, he made long, slow thrusts, and only when her breathing became ragged and uneven, did he quicken his thrusts.
The pain became a pleasurable torture, which Lina could not seem to get enough of. She arched off the bed, meeting his thrusts, and soon, Ryan pounded against her, driving himself into her. Harder and faster he moved, and Lina thrashed her head, writhing beneath him, lost in a lust crazed state of mind.
“I’m going to cum, Lina,” Ryan said on a ragged breath. “Cum with me, baby girl.”
Lina felt that sensation building inside her again, and as she screamed his name, her body convulsed around him, her inner muscles tightened and milked his massive cock. Ryan slammed into her a final time, and exploded. He filled her with his hot cum, and Lina writhed and bucked beneath him.

Chapter Two

Finding himself coated with blood, Ryan scooped Lina into his arms and carried her to the bathroom. He turned on the shower, and took her with him as he got in. Gently, he bathed her and then himself. He wrapped her in a towel, dried himself quickly, then carried her back to the bed. He spread her legs to see how much more blood there was. He wasn’t comfortable with the amount.

“You need a doctor,” he told her, reaching for his clothes. “I’m taking you to the emergency room.”
Shaking, Lina sat up, finally looking at him. “I’ll be okay. You don’t have to do that.”
Continuing to get dressed, he looked at her. “You’re bleeding too much. I’d feel better if you were looked at. You might need stitches.”
“You didn’t rape me,” she told him. “It’ll be okay.”
He leaned over and put his face close to hers. “I might not have raped you, but I tore you up as if I did. I didn’t mean to, Lina. Let me make sure you’re all right.”
Sensing she was not going to win, she nodded. She eased from the bed, then noticed the blood stains. She went to the dresser, found some underwear, then went to the bathroom, applied a pad, then came back to finish getting dressed. Nothing could be more embarrassing and humiliating as to have a man rush her over to the hospital after sex. When this was over, she never wanted to see him again.

Thankfully, the emergency room wasn’t crowded, and they took her back to an exam room almost immediately. To her further embarrassment, Ryan went with her, even explained what happened, and took full blame. She felt guilty that he would take it upon himself, when she hadn’t said no in the first place.

When the doctor came in, Ryan again explained, and Lina couldn’t look at either of them. The doctor asked Ryan to step out while he did his examination, and Lina closed her eyes, trying to think of something a lot more pleasant.

“Miss Sommerson, if he raped you, we need to know,” the doctor told her.

“He didn’t. I consented. He didn’t know I was a virgin, and I didn’t realize he was so big,” she confessed. “He didn’t mean to hurt me.”
“All right.” He proceeded with the exam, careful not to hurt her any more than necessary. “You do have a tear that needs a few stitches. It won’t be comfortable.”
“You can numb it, right?”
“Yes, of course.”
“I’m sure it can’t hurt worse than it did when I tore,” she remarked. “Do what you have to do.”
Moments later, she felt a sharp stick inside her, causing her to gasp and clench her hands into tight fists. “Oh, God, that hurts!”
“I know. I’m sorry.”
She heard the clink of something dropped against metal, and then she felt pressure inside. There was no pain, for which she was grateful, and soon, she was allowed to sit up.
“No sex for awhile, but I think you know that. Bed rest for a few days. You can go back to work Tuesday, light duty. No heavy lifting for at least two weeks. The sutures will absorb in about ten days or so. If you have any problems, such as fever or odor, then see your gynecologist right away.” He looked at her. “Are you afraid to leave with him?”
“No, of course not. He didn’t mean for this to happen. I’m sure of it.”
“Very well.” He wrote on a paper the nurse handed him, then he said, “You’re going to be sore. If you need anything for pain, you can take acetaminophen. The nurse will bring instructions with your discharge papers. Do you want to see your boyfriend now?”
She almost blurted that he wasn’t her boyfriend, but tamped it down and nodded. When they left, she managed to get into her clothes, then slipped her shoes on.
Ryan entered the room. “Are you all right?”
She couldn’t look at him as she nodded, but said nothing.
“The doctor said you needed stitches. Lina, I am so, so sorry…”
She looked at him then, tears forming in her eyes. “Sorry you hurt me, or sorry you met me in the first place, or sorry I drew your keys?”
“For hurting you. I’m not sorry for the rest.”
She said nothing more, turned her head away, and waited for the nurse to return. When she finally came, she went over brief instructions, and Lina signed where the nurse indicated. She then walked out, aware that Ryan stayed with her.
Back at her apartment, she expected Ryan to drop her off and go, but instead, he parked in front of her apartment, got out, and went inside with her.
“Thank you for taking care of me,” she told him, meaning it. “I didn’t realize it was that bad.”
“I didn’t, either,” he confessed. He moved closer to her and reached out to touch her cheek. “Thank you for giving yourself to me, letting me be your first, for trusting me.”
Lina didn’t know what to say. She lowered her gaze to the floor. “I should rest.”
“Yes, you should.” He took her hand and led the way to her bedroom. Seeing the blood on the sheet, he quickly went over and stripped the bed.
Lina took clean sheets from the closet, and Ryan took them from her, swiftly made the bed, then turned back the cover. He stripped off his shirt and dropped it on the dresser.
“What are you doing?” Lina stared at him with wide eyes.
“I’m staying with you to make sure you’re all right. It’s a bit late to ask me to sleep on the sofa, don’t you think?” He put his hands on his lean hips. “Get undressed and get into bed.”
Flabbergasted, Lina’s mouth dropped open. “You want to stay after everything?”
“I had no intention of leaving once you drew my keys. It’s for the night.”
“But…” she clamped her mouth shut for a moment, then said, “You don’t have to stay.”
“I know that.” He crossed the small space that separated them, pulled her into his arms and kissed her for a long moment. He then said, “I very much want to stay.”
“I can’t…the stitches…”
“The doctor made sure I knew that.”
Perplexed, Lina moved away from him, took a nightgown from a drawer, and went into the bathroom.
When she emerged moments later, Ryan sat on the side of the bed, wearing only his underwear. He looked at her and reached out a hand.
Reluctantly, she took his hand, and when he gave a gentle tug, she went toward him. He stood, held up the cover so that she could slide in, and once she was comfortable, he turned out the light, went around the bed, and slid in beside her.
To her surprise, he gathered her to him, wrapped his arms around her, and Lina lay stiffly in his embrace.

Having never slept in a man’s arms before, it took a long time for Lina to fall asleep. When she finally awakened, she found herself alone, which didn’t surprise her. Her entire body hurt, but it was even worse between her legs. It felt worse than having a semi-truck drive up her at breakneck speed, she was sure. Easing from the bed, she went to shower.

After getting dressed in comfortable, loose pants and a cool top, she went to the kitchen to make some coffee, finding it already made. At least he’d thought enough of her to do that, she mused, reaching for a cup on the drain board.

She eased herself into a chair, wincing at the pain, and sipped at the coffee. She heard a noise and looked up to see Ryan entering through the front door, carrying a white paper bag. He looked at her and smiled.

“Good morning. I thought I’d be back before you got up. How are you?”
Lina lifted a shoulder. “Okay, considering.”
He seemed to wince but said nothing as he crossed the room and set the bag on the table.

“I bought breakfast. I thought you might be hungry.”
“I am, thanks,” she answered, curious to see what he’d brought.
She didn’t have to wait long. Ryan opened the bag and pulled out two large plates, piled with

scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon, hashbrowns, and buttery pancakes, along with small containers of maple syrup. Lina looked at the plate of food.

“Wow!” She looked up at him. “I might not be able to eat all this.”

“Eat what you feel like.” He sat down across from her. “I don’t know what you like, so I splurged on a little of everything.”
“I see.” Unsure what else to say, she removed the clear plastic lid that covered the plate, took a fork, and dug into the meal.
Ryan got up and poured himself a cup of coffee, then he sat back down to eat.
They were both silent. Lina didn’t really know what to say to him, unsure why he came back, but she didn’t want him feeling guilty over what happened. It wasn’t really his fault, she knew, for no matter who she’d given herself to eventually, she’d have probably suffered the same injuries. She knew she was small and petite, and perhaps that had been an unconscious decision that kept her a virgin for so long.
After their meal, Ryan gathered the debris and stuffed it into the kitchen garbage, then refilled his cup, offering a refill to Lina.
“No, thanks. I’m fine.” She sighed heavily. “I appreciate you taking care of me after…well, making sure I was all right, but you didn’t have to stay like you did. I understand now what that party was all about. I understand it’s for one night stands. I got the picture, so…it’s okay that you go on about your business.”
He reached out and touched her hand. “I’m not a louse. At least I hope not. I stayed because I wanted to. It was the right thing to do.”
Lina couldn’t look at him. “Maybe, but don’t feel obligated. I’m a big girl. Wiser for the experience, anyway.”
“Your first time shouldn’t have been so traumatic. I’m truly sorry.”
Tears sprang to her eyes. “I’ll be fine.”
Ryan reached into his hip pocket, pulled out his wallet, and removed a card. He slid it over to her. “Here’s my number. If you need anything, please call.”
She swallowed hard, trying to get rid of the lump in her throat. “Sure.”
He got up and went around the table, then stooped beside her chair. He gently forced her to look at him, and when he saw the unshed tears, he had a sharp intake of breath.
“Lina…” Then his lips touched hers for a long, tender kiss.
“You’d better go,” she whispered as soon as he broke the kiss.
“I’ll see you.”
When she looked up, he was gone.
Lina buried her face in her hands and gave vent to the hot tears she’d been wanting to shed since last night.

Chapter Three

Lina stayed in her apartment all weekend, tending to her wounds and trying to heal, but she didn’t feel much better when she went in to work Monday morning. Sighing heavily, she sat at her desk and began the first task of the day.

On Wednesday, she found another invitation to the key party, this time in a different apartment, and she bit her lip as she wondered if Ryan would attend. Probably so, she thought sadly, tortured by the thought of him with another woman, loving her with his hot mouth, then shoving his massive cock into her, making her love it.

Lina bit her lip hard as she re-lived the scene in her bedroom, then she shook when she envisioned that massive cock splitting her open. She ripped the invitation into tiny pieces, and shoved it into the trashcan located at the mailbox station for junk mail. Still taking care, she slowly made her way back to her apartment.

When Friday came, Lina stopped for a small pizza to take home for dinner, then she sat on the sofa to watch television. She tried not to think of the key party going on at the next building, desperately tried not to think of Ryan being there, waiting to see what beauty drew his keys this time. She tried not to think of his kisses and caresses, of him bestowing them on someone else, of taking someone to his bed and making love to her. He’d have her screaming his name, writhing beneath him, begging for more. Exactly as he’d had her doing, even though he’d hurt her so badly.

She’d never behaved in such a manner, had never allowed a man to go that far, even one she knew well, so why had she allowed him to have his way with her? She hadn’t given one shred of resistance. Perhaps he’d sensed her inexperience, knew she was not worldly or sophisticated, and he’d known exactly what to do to get her out of her clothes.

She sighed heavily and tossed the slice of pizza back into the box. It had suddenly lost its appeal, and so had the television. She switched off the television, grabbed the pizza and took it to the kitchen where she stuffed it in the refrigerator. She then went and lay across the bed, staring at the ceiling.

I’d probably be able to forget him easier if I weren’t still in pain, she told herself. Then she realized she was lying to herself. She would never forget such a magnetic man, her first lover, and in all likelihood, her only. After such an ordeal, she didn’t want to try it again any time soon, and if she ever did, it wouldn’t be from attending a key party. Of that, she was certain.

She didn’t know how long she lay there, thinking of Ryan with another woman, unable to get the thoughts out of her head, but when she heard a soft knock on her door, she glanced at the clock and noticed it was almost midnight.

Looking through the peephole, she was surprised to see Ryan standing on the other side of the door, illuminated by the security light.
Reluctantly, she opened the door, and he smiled at her.
“I realize it’s late, but…”
“Come in,” she said, cutting off anything else he might have said. She stepped back and

opened the door wider.
Ryan stepped inside, and Lina closed the door. “What brings you here so late?” “I just got off duty, and wanted to see how you’re doing. I’d have called, but I forgot to get

your number. I saw your light on. If you’d rather I not stay, I understand.”
“I thought you’d be at the party,” she said, then wished she hadn’t.
He looked at her. “No. I was working. I work the evening shift.”
Hearing he had been working, not with another woman after all, pleased her, and she

suddenly felt hungry. “I…uh…I bought a pizza earlier. I can heat it up, if you’re hungry, and I have soda.”

Ryan smiled. “That would be great, thanks.” He followed her to the kitchen, and watched as she pulled out the pizza box and a couple of cans of soda.

Lina put slices on a plate, put it in the microwave, and pushed the buttons. She didn’t know why she felt so giddy, like a star-struck teen, but she liked the way he could make her feel just by being near. She jumped when she felt his hand touch her shoulder.

“How are you, really?” he asked gently.

She looked up at him and forced a small smile. “I’m healing. Another week or so, and I’ll be good as new. Well, almost, I guess.”
“I’ve been worrying about you, wondering…”
“Thank you for caring,” she said, cutting him off. “I’m sure most men wouldn’t have given a rat’s ass.” The ding of the microwave caught her attention, and she pulled the plate out. “Let’s eat.” Moving around him, she put the plate on the table, grabbed some paper towels to use as make-shift plates, and set cold soda cans on the table.
Ryan took a seat and helped himself to the pizza. Lina sat across from him, and they ate in silence. When they finished, Lina disposed of the debris, and wondered if he’d only come by to ease his guilt, or if he really did care. She had no way of knowing, but she would like to think he cared.
“Thank you for coming by, and for helping me eat the pizza,” she said politely, her voice shaky.
“Lina…” he stepped closer. “I’d like to stay.”
Her head dropped. “I can’t…”
“I know, and it’s okay. I’d really like to stay.”
Puzzled, she looked at him. There seemed to be something in his eyes as he looked at her that she couldn’t identify. A look she didn’t understand. More than anything, she wished they could start over, make her experience less painful and traumatic, but she didn’t know how that would ever be possible. She was too small to take him, and he was definitely a man who needed a woman to satisfy his needs. She swallowed over the lump that formed in her throat as she realized she could never be that woman. He would always end up hurting her.
Why it seemed important to her mystified her. She didn’t really know him, had been literally swept off her feet by his charm and good looks, had mind-blowing sex, and even though ripped by his enormous size, he’d ended up making it truly wonderful for her.
Because she hesitated for so long, Ryan’s head dropped. He turned, and Lina knew he was about to walk out the door. She reached out and touched his arm, causing him to stop. He turned to look at her, and before she could stop herself, she practically threw herself into his arms.
Ryan’s lips crushed hers, and Lina surrendered to his passion. His strong arms molded her soft body to his hard one, and even though she could not take him inside her, she wanted to please him, to make love to him, even if she wasn’t sure how.
When Ryan broke the kiss, he smoothed his hands down each side of her head, then cupped her cheeks. He kissed her again, then stepped back, taking her hand. He led the way to the bedroom, and Lina went willingly.
Ryan took his time stripping her, then once he made sure she was comfortable in bed, he stripped himself. He slid in next to her, and pulled her into his arms. Lina ran her hands over his back and hips, and boldly moved her hand around to touch his massive cock. She felt it respond, and it urged her to continue.
Ryan’s sharp intake of breath let her know she pleased him, and that, too, inspired her to continue. She wrapped her hand around his cock and stroked him, slowly, firmly.
She felt Ryan’s hand move to her breast, where he massaged and rolled the nipple until she moaned with pleasure. He kissed her passionately, his tongue invading her mouth, and Lina’s passions soared. She longed to have him touch her and when his hand slid low, she didn’t offer any resistance.
Hoping he would forgive her inadequacies, she broke the kiss and urged him to his back. Sliding down, she kissed her way down his chest and abdomen, and when she went lower, she looked at his engorged cock. She marveled at the size, then her tongue snaked out, and she licked over the head. She heard Ryan suck air between his teeth, felt his hands go to her hair, and Lina opened her mouth wide to take in the head.
“Lina…” Ryan breathed. “Oh, yeah…”
Lina let her tongue roll around the ridge, and she started a suction, letting her tongue massage the gland on the underside of the head.
Ryan’s legs quivered and his hips arched, his breathing becoming heavier. “Lina, baby….you’re making me crazy.”
Lina inserted the tip of her tongue into the slit in the head of his cock, and Ryan groaned, arching toward her mouth. Lina let her head move up and down, taking more of him into her mouth. He was so huge, she couldn’t take much, but what she did take almost choked her. She backed off to concentrate on the head.
“Turn around,” he urged.
Stopping only long enough to comply, she took the head back into her hot mouth, and she was lifted over Ryan so that she straddled him. Gently, he parted her folds, then his tongue lapped at her clit. Lina moaned around his cock, and pressed closer to his mouth. When he sucked her clit into his mouth, she let out a muffled cry, her mouth tightening around him. Ryan groaned and began moving his hips, thrusting in and out of her hungry mouth.
Ryan’s tongue settled on the center bud, flicking wildly, and soon, Lina was whimpering uncontrollably as she continued to suck madly at his cock. To her astonishment, it grew in her mouth, and as she felt that sensation building inside her, she felt Ryan make a hard thrust, and the tip of his cock went into her throat. His cock exploded, throbbing and spurting his hot cum. Lina’s own body writhed and convulsed as an orgasm exploded.
Ryan’s cock dwindled somewhat, and she moved off him to collapse on the bed. Lina heaved air, her body trembled, and she couldn’t move. She heard Ryan’s own ragged breathing, felt his hand smooth over her thigh and butt, and moments later, he sat up and pulled her to lie beside him. He then pulled the cover over them, wrapped his arms about her, and they lay in silence for a long while, basking in the aftermath.
“Thank you,” he finally told her. “I wasn’t expecting anything.”
“Me, either,” she admitted, not expecting to ever see him again, much less do what they just did. “I’ve never done that before. Was it okay?”
Ryan squeezed her tight. “It was awesome. I didn’t hurt you, did I?”
“No.” She snuggled closer. “You were wonderful.”
He kissed her forehead. “Good. That’s the way it’s supposed to be.”
Sighing contentedly, she held him tightly.

Chapter Four

Ryan stayed with Lina all weekend, leaving only to cover his shift at work, and they’d walked down the block to his apartment so that he could get a change of clothes. He slept with her, holding her in his arms, and he made no effort to persuade her to try to take him into her. For that she was grateful, and they pleased each other in various ways without his penetration.

Lina didn’t know what to make of Ryan’s affections and attention, but she enjoyed it for as long as it lasted. He left late Sunday, and Lina missed him in her bed.

All week, Lina hoped he’d call, but she heard nothing. She hated admitting to waiting by the phone, but she found herself staring at the contraption, willing it to ring. She tried to keep herself occupied with reading, watching television, and even getting out to run a few errands. When she returned, she immediately checked for messages, but found none.

When Friday came, she hoped he’d come after work, but she still heard nothing. On Saturday, she cleaned her apartment, then took her laundry to the coin machines. While she waited, she became absorbed in a book she’d started.

Barb came in, hefting a basket of clothes to a machine. “Hey, Lina!” she greeted with a smile. “We missed you at the party Friday. What happened?”
“I was busy,” she stated, not wanting to go into details.
“With Ryan?” When Lina looked at her, Barb shrugged. “He wasn’t there, either, so I just assumed…” When Lina remained silent, Barb told her, “Look, you seem like a nice person, so be careful of Ryan. I’m not sure I trust the man, but since we all know where he lives, we include him. He seems like a shady character. He’s always intense, too quiet, always watching people…it’s eerie sometimes. You know?”
“Have you ever slept with him?” Lina wasn’t sure why she asked that question, but now that it was out, she did want to know.
“No, and I’m not sure I’d want to,” she stated. “I can’t put my finger on it, but something about him bothers me.”
“I see. You said he wasn’t at the party last night?”
“No. I’d have noticed. Maybe he was working. He’s a truck driver, so he could have been on the road.”
“A truck driver?” Her head jerked up.
Barb shrugged. “That’s what he told everybody. What do we know? I only know what he said.”
Lina wondered why he’d tell her he was a law enforcement officer if he was a truck driver. Was that to try an impress her, or was he trying to throw everyone else off? Which was true? Then she remembered the card he’d given her from his wallet. She wondered what information was on it. Of course, anyone can put anything on a business card, she realized, but if he really was a cop, that should be easy enough to find out.
Then another thought struck her. She’d slept with him without protection, and without any birth control. Even though he’d been inside her only once, she knew that was enough for anything to happen. What about in her mouth? Oh, God! How could I have been so stupid? She looked up to see that the dryer had stopped. Jumping up, she rushed over and grabbed her clothes out of it, dumped them into the basket, and took it with her as she rushed out.
Back at her apartment, she dropped the basket of clothes on the sofa, ran to the kitchen and snatched up the card Ryan had left. Bugle County Sheriff’s Department. Ryan Silver, Detective. There were two phone numbers. She hurried to the phone and dialed.
“Bugle County Sheriff. How may I help you?” came a feminine voice.
“Detective Ryan Silver, please?” Lina requested politely.
“Detective Silver hasn’t come in yet. He comes in at two o’clock. May I take a message and have him call you?”
“No, thanks. I’ll try later.” She replaced the receiver, her brows creasing. OK, he’s really a cop, so why did he lie to everyone else? Being a cop, he has to be careful about things such as body fluids, so why did he sleep with me without protection? He didn’t know any more about me than I did him, so why did he feel comfortable doing the things he did? What’s going on?

There were too many questions and no answers. She simply didn’t know enough about anything to figure it out. Perhaps if he was honest enough to tell her his real occupation, he might also tell her the answers she needed. If he comes back, she told herself.

Giving up on it for now, she took the basket of clothes to the bedroom to take care of folding and ironing.

Ryan sat behind his desk, filling out his reports from the previous night’s investigations and arrests. He leaned back, thinking of Lina, and smiling. He was glad she hadn’t turned out to be like the other women he’d met at those key parties, and even more glad she hadn’t asked for money when they’d gone to her apartment. He’d have hated to arrest her for prostitution. Instead, she’d turned out to be innocent, but why she’d given herself to him puzzled him. Still, he was just as glad she had.

Unable to get her off his mind, he picked up the phone on his desk and dialed her number from memory. Lina answered on the second ring.
“Hi, it’s Ryan,” he told her, smiling at the sound of her voice. “I wondered if I could stop by after work tonight?”
“Sure. There’s something I’d like to ask you, so this would be a good time.”
“Oh? You can ask me now if you want. What’s up?”
“It can wait,” Lina answered. “I’m sure you’re busy.”
“Only a bit. It might get busier later.”
“By the way, in case I’m asked, what trucking company are you supposed to work for? I’ve already been warned to be careful around you.”
Ryan laughed. “Someone is carrying tales, are they?”
“Sort of.”
“I’ll tell you when I get there.”
“Got to have time to make one up, do you?”
Ryan laughed again. “No. I’ve been honest with you.”
“See you when you get here.”
He heard the click and the line went dead. Still smiling, he replaced the receiver and went back to his task. Less than two minutes later, the phone on his desk rang.
“Silver,” he answered.
“Just checking,” came a feminine voice.
“To make sure I’m really who I say?”
“Yeah, pretty much.”
“Now you know. Right?” He leaned back in his chair, smiling at the pretty sound Lina made on the phone.
“Yeah,” she admitted. “Someone like me needs to be more careful.”
“Lina, you can trust me. I didn’t lie to you about anything.” He took a deep breath. “Something else, too. I don’t have any diseases. Okay?”
“Okay. Thank you for telling me.”
“See you in a few hours.” He replaced the receiver, and again returned to his paperwork.

Lina sat staring at the telephone for several long minutes, thinking hard about Ryan Silver. If he hadn’t lied to her, he must have a good reason for lying to Barb. Was he investigating something? Was the key party illegal? It seemed it should be, but probably not since everyone was consenting adults, and nobody was required to pay anything. It seemed to be a means to have one night stands among people who knew where each other lived, which would be safer than picking up men in a bar, she mused. Still in heavy thought, she got up to finish her ironing.

By the time Ryan knocked on her door, Lina had come up with so many questions, she forgot what she wanted to ask. She was confused, not knowing who to trust or believe, deciding that it would be best to simply go with her gut instincts. Just as quickly, she dashed that notion, realizing just what her following basic instincts had gotten her into already. A cock the size of a football shoved up her, for one thing, she thought, biting her lip at the memories of the other things he’d done and how she’d reacted. An ache burned between her legs, traveled deep inside her, and she groaned softly.

“Are you all right?” Ryan asked, entering without waiting for an invitation.
“Just fine,” she snapped, not meaning to sound so harsh.
Ryan whipped around to look at her. Seeing her flushed face, similar to the expression when

he’d made love to her, he stepped close and pulled her into his arms. His lips devoured hers, hungrily, greedily, and when she opened her mouth, he invaded it with his tongue.

Lina became a mindless blob in his arms, the same as she did every time he touched her. A soft little sound rose from her, captured by his mouth, and Lina suddenly knew that she would always be his. She would never be able to say no. Lina had fallen in love, and she’d fallen hard. Tiny tears prickled her eyes, and her heart blossomed like a new rose.

Ryan kissed her for a long time, and when he broke the kiss, he seemed reluctant to let go of her. He eased away, took her hand, and led her to the sofa. They sat side-by-side, and Ryan wrapped his arm about her to pull her close. Lina snuggled into his embrace.

“What made you give yourself to me the way you did?” Ryan asked, surprising her. “You didn’t know I wouldn’t hurt you. I could have been a killer for all you knew.”
She looked at him, then kissed his bearded jaw. “I’m not sure why I did it. Something about you. I wasn’t afraid.” She sighed. “Do you enjoy those parties?”
“You’re the first woman I’ve ever slept with from one,” he admitted.
Lina sat up and looked at him with disbelief. “Come on, now. You don’t really expect me to believe that, do you? You knew exactly what was supposed to happen. You even explained it to me, if you remember, although I’d already figured it out by the time it was too late.”
He ran a finger down her cheek. “It wasn’t too late. You could have said no, but I’m glad you didn’t. I wanted you more than anything. I still do. The moment I saw you at the party, I tossed my keys into the bowl and hoped you’d be the one to draw them. Otherwise, they were going to go back into my pocket. I just hadn’t planned on hurting you.”
“Is that why you keep coming back? Because you hurt me?”
Ryan shook his head. “No. I’m glad you’re all right, of course, but I’m here because I want to be.”
Not sure he was serious, she searched his face and eyes. That unidentifiable look was there again, intense and mesmerizing, and she didn’t want to break the spell that seemed to be cast around her. She leaned forward, and touched his lips with her own.

Chapter Five

“When do you go back to the doctor to make sure everything is all right?” Ryan asked, his arm around Lina as they lay in bed. They’d had a mind-blowing session of oral sex in the sixtynine position, and lay in the aftermath in each other’s arms.

“I have to go Wednesday afternoon,” she answered, running her fingers down his chest. “I’m sure I’m all right. You really shouldn’t worry.”
He kissed her forehead. “Comes with the territory.”
Silently, Lina worried she would never be able to take Ryan’s massive cock inside her, and she had every intention of asking the doctor when she went. She had a deep, distinct fear that if she couldn’t, oral sex would not be enough to always satisfy him, therefore he would find someone who could take him into her body. She knew Ryan had made no promises to her, and she didn’t harbor the notion that he was hers, but she hoped the time would come that he would be, would want to spend his life with just her. Certain she should give up that idea, she forced her heart to let go a little and felt it start to crack.
“About the truck driver,” he said, causing her to look at him. “I never said who I was supposed to be driving for.”
“Why don’t you want them to know the truth?”
“I work in Vice. It’s my job to investigate public order crimes, such as narcotics, alcohol, prostitution, pornography and gambling. These parties were very popular in the ‘70’s but most involved orgies and drugs. They’re becoming popular again in some areas, and our little county isn’t immune.”
“So, you were checking to make sure nothing illegal was going on?”
“Yeah, more or less.”
“Why did you leave with me? You didn’t know anything about me. I could have been a lowlife or something.”
Ryan smiled. “I’m a good judge of character. I took one look at you and knew you didn’t belong there. You didn’t have that look that said you were wild and willing. You were very reluctant to pull a key from the bowl, and when you held it up, you weren’t sure what you were getting into.”
“You saw all that?”
“Sure did,” he replied, giving her a kiss on the forehead. “I’m glad it was me.”
“So am I,” Lina admitted, and hugged him to her. “Do you think anything illegal is going on around here?”
“I didn’t see anything. Just a bunch of neighbors getting together to swap partners for a night once a week. They aren’t charging for the sex that I know of, they aren’t selling the booze, and I didn’t see anyone with narcotics. I didn’t see any porn laying around, so without probable cause, there’s nothing to go on.”
“The party isn’t illegal?” she wondered aloud.
“No. Not morally acceptable, but not illegal. They’re all consenting adults.” He lifted a shoulder in a half shrug. “Can’t say the same for other parties, but that one is okay.”
Lina then wondered how much danger he might be in every night, but was afraid to ask, afraid of the answer. She was sure the less she knew, the better off she’d be.

Ryan left on Sunday evening, and Lina felt her heart die a little. He made no offer to call, no offer to come back, and she didn’t want to be rejected if she asked him, which made her remain silent when he’d said his good-bye.

On Monday, she went in to work as usual, and just before lunch, a client came in to see her boss. He’d brought a couple of people with him, and she showed them into the conference room.

Although the door was closed, voices carried, and when the attorney asked about the arresting officer, she heard Ryan Silver’s name. Her head jerked up, and though muffled, she caught the words drugs and prostitution. Lina bit her lip hard.

She’d never given much thought to some of the clients coming in to being thugs. Realizing this guy was a dealer and a pimp made her stomach hurt. If they weren’t in trouble, they wouldn’t need a criminal attorney, she realized.

She watched as the three men swaggered out, looking and acting tougher than when they’d entered, as if they’d just been declared innocent and thought it was cool. Concerned that Ryan had to deal with such people on a daily basis, her stomach knotted painfully.

On Wednesday afternoon, Lina kept her doctor’s appointment. After the examination, she sat up.
“The man I slept with…well, he’s huge, and that’s why I tore,” she told the doctor.
“I gathered that.”
“I wondered…can we try again?” Her cheeks burned with embarrassment.
“Use a good lubricant, and you should do fine.” He wrote down a brand on a slip of paper. “You don’t need a prescription, and don’t be afraid to use as much as you need.” He handed her the paper. “Once you’re adjusted to his size, you won’t need it.”
She nodded, and when he left, she got dressed. She didn’t know if she should call Ryan, or simply wait to see if he came back. She didn’t like the idea of telling him on the phone, “Hey, it’s okay for you to slam that anaconda into me if you lube it up!” Of course, she wouldn’t be so blunt, but it would sound the same no matter how it came out of her mouth.
On the way home, she stopped by the pharmacy, found the brand he recommended, paid for it, and went home. She sat down on the bed, read the instructions, then put it in the drawer of the bedside table. She wondered when, or if, it would be used.
Dismissing it, she got up, went to the kitchen and made herself a sandwich of bacon and scrambled egg. She sat down in front of the television, switched it on, and when she saw a true series on vice squad activity, her attention glued to the set. Learning more about Ryan’s work might help her understand him a little better. As it were, he confused her by showing up at the last minute and calling only once. Did he expect her to always fall into his arms and into bed just because he showed up? Apparently, he did, and Lina was sure that wasn’t a good thing.
Around nine-thirty, her phone rang, surprising her. When she answered, she heard Ryan’s voice greet her. “Hi, beautiful.”
Lina smiled. “Hi. This is a surprise.”
“I had a few minutes, and I wanted to hear your voice.”
Lina heard the tiredness in his tone. “Are you all right?”
“We executed a raid earlier, and it got a bit rough. I’m fine.” He sighed heavily. “You went to the doctor today?”
Surprised that he remembered, she answered, “Yes. Everything turned out all right.”
“No complications then?”
“No, none. You can stop worrying.”
He was silent for a few moments, then said, “I’m off this weekend. Would you like to spend it with me? We could take a trip to the beach, get some sun.”
Her face lit up with delightful surprise. “Really? You want to take me?”
“Yeah, really. My parents left me a beach house. I like to go at least once a month. It’s about a two hour drive. I can pick you up Friday when you get off work, and we can head out. Come back Sunday evening.”
“It sounds wonderful. I’d love to go. Thank you for asking.”
“It’ll be great. Bring a bathing suit. I have to get back to work.”
“Okay,” Lina said. “I’ll see you Friday.”
They said their goodbyes, and Lina went to bed with a happy smile.

On Thursday after work, Lina packed for the weekend, taking along a bikini she had never worn, and hoped Ryan would like it. She also tossed in the lubricant, then set her small bag by the front door.

Ryan sat in his car, parked in front of her apartment, when Lina pulled in on Friday evening. She couldn’t help smiling, thinking he was as anxious to see her as she was him. He met her halfway, and dropped a kiss on her lips.

“I thought we could stop for dinner on the way,” he said, taking her key and opening the door. “How long will it take you to get your things?”
She reached inside the door and picked up her small bag. “Is this fast enough?”
Ryan laughed. “Do you want to change before we go?”
“That would be good, thanks.” She did want to get out of her dressy work clothes and put on some comfortable jeans.
While she changed, Ryan put her bag in the car with his, and soon, they were on the road. Lina hadn’t asked where. She somehow trusted Ryan, and anywhere with him would be wonderful.
An hour later, they stopped at a fast food restaurant for a hearty meal of cheeseburgers, fries, and a soda, then were on the road again.
“Tell me about you?” Ryan asked, breaking the silence.
“Not much to tell, really,” Lina replied. “I was an only child, my parents are deceased, and I never knew any uncles, aunts, or cousins. They were originally from Montana, and when they got married, they moved south so that my dad could work on an assembly line for a car manufacturer. I graduated high school, took some job training to be a legal secretary, and that’s what I do.” She looked at him. “What about you?”
“I’m a simple guy, not complicated. I’ve been in law enforcement since I was twenty-one, and worked my way up to Detective. I worked in Homicide for a couple of years, then a year in Special Victims, and now I’m in Vice. I like it better.” He glanced at her with a smile. “I have a brother, also in law enforcement, but not here. He prefers street patrol. He’s a year older, and we were the only kids. My parents left him the main house, and I got the vacation house.”
“That’s nice. My parents didn’t have anything to leave. They rented, and the insurance was barely enough to pay for the funerals, but that’s okay. They’re at peace.”
“That’s what’s important.” Ryan took her hand and brought it to his lips to kiss the backs of her fingers. “I think you’ll like the house. It’s right on the beach, and the houses are spread apart, so there’s privacy.”
“I’m sure it’s lovely.”
They fell into a comfortable silence for the rest of the trip.

Chapter Six

Ryan had been right. Lina did like the house. Furnished with padded wicker, it looked cozy and inviting. Only a few yards from the incoming tide, with a constant ocean breeze, the house was cool and comfortable. There were two bedrooms, the master with a private bath, complete with whirlpool tub for two and a separate shower, and the living room was separated from the kitchen and dining area by a long bar.

Ryan took their bags to the master bedroom and put them on the foot of the bed. “After we get unpacked, would you like to take a walk on the beach before dark?”
Lina smiled. “I’d like that.” She reached for her bag.
Ryan indicated that Lina could put her things in one side of the dresser, and he would use the other. It took only minutes to put things away.
Hand in hand, they walked off the low porch onto the white sand, then to the firmer sand at the edge of the surf. Barefoot, they walked along the edge, where the water slid in and out. It felt surprisingly warm, Lina noticed, and curled her toes in the sand as it washed away around her feet.
Fascinated by a tiny shell that washed up, she stooped to watch it as it stood on end and wiggled its way into the sand. Unable to resist, she ran her hand into the sand and scooped it up, delighted to watch it wiggle, She laughed softly.
“What is this?” She held her hand so that he could see, finding that he had stooped beside her and watched her.
Ryan smiled, that glint back in his eyes that she had seen on occasion. “It’s a baby clam.” He took it from her palm and put it back on the sand. “Watch.”
Immediately, it stood on end and wiggled itself into the sand. When the ocean water washed in, it was gone.
Lina laughed. “That’s adorable! If I had those in an aquarium, I’d never make it to work. I’d watch them all the time.”
Ryan chuckled, then hugged her to him. “I believe it.” He took her hand again, and they walked along once more. “If you come down here early in the morning as the tide goes back out, you can usually find a few nice shells. Want to come in the morning and see?”
“Oh, I’d love it!” She hugged him tightly. “Thank you, Ryan. I’d never seen the ocean or beach before. This is wonderful.”
He looked at her with surprise. “You’ve never seen it?” When she shook her head, he asked, “Why not?”
She lowered her head. “I’ve never had the opportunity.” She walked along the water’s edge, not looking at him, as she explained how she’d grown up. Living in a world of physical abuse, wanting to be like other kids with loving parents where the father didn’t drink and the mother wasn’t a cheat, about living in a house where winters were too cold and summers too hot, and very little nourishing food. She explained how her mother resented her for wanting to graduate, how she’d had to sneak off to night school with a friend, and how she’d been mistreated for wanting to be better than where she came from.
“Is that why you were still a virgin? Not wanting to be like your mother?” Ryan asked, his tone gentle.
Lina sighed heavily. “Yeah.”
He stopped and turned to face her. “You aren’t like that, Lina. Just because you gave yourself to me, doesn’t mean you’re like her.”
Lina knew that wasn’t true, but she said nothing. After all, she willingly slept with him without knowing the first thing about him, even his name, risking her health, her life, her morals. She did things with him that she vowed to never do with a man because her mother had, right in the room with her, and to her, it meant turning into a skanky slut. She blinked away tears that burned her eyes, thinking of how much she had come to love Ryan. Although he didn’t know that, she hoped that it did somehow make it all right to give in to him. Heaven help her, she could not say no to him, and she didn’t know why.
Ryan’s fingers touched her chin, lifted until she looked at him, and his eyes searched her face. He then bent his head and kissed her, pulled her into his embrace, and deepened the kiss.
Lina wrapped her arms about him, pressed her body close to his, and responded to his kiss with a passion that she didn’t realize she possessed. The things he’d made her feel before seemed tame compared to what she felt at that moment.
Ryan broke the kiss, and keeping an arm about her, they walked back to the beach house, and just after closing the door, he swept her into his arms and carried her to the bedroom. He took his time undressing her, allowing her to undress him, and then he gently crushed her to him as his lips came down on hers. Putting his hands so that he cupped her butt, he lifted her, and Lina wrapped her legs around his waist. Ryan took one step to the bed, put a knee on the mattress, and lowered her beneath him.
Lina kissed him feverishly, her hands moving over his shoulders, chest, back, and down to his firm butt. She arched against him, unable to get close enough.
Ryan moved down her body, and Lina moaned with unbridled passion. She arched her hips, wanting Ryan to bury himself deep into her, but when he moved down her body, she worried that he didn’t want to try with her again.
“Ryan…Please…” came on a ragged breath.
Ryan continued his caresses and kisses down her body, and Lina was sure her body would catch fire and burn the house down around them. Her body burned, and the ache between her legs became almost unbearable.
Lina felt Ryan’s hands on her thighs, and when he pushed them even wider, she willingly spread them for him. His tongue licked up the center of her folds, caressing and bathing her clit.
“Ryan…oh, God…” Her hands went to his hair, and she arched upwards.
Ryan pulled her folds wide, then clamped his mouth over her and sucked her hard. Lina cried out and arched off the bed. He pulled back, tugging her clit as he sucked, then moved forward, then pulled back again. The tip of his tongue flicked hard and fast over the center bud, and Lina shook with the sensations. She whimpered with each breath, her legs quivered, and her body writhed. Ryan gently inserted two fingers into her hot, wet opening, and Lina cried out again, bringing her legs up and wide.
Wanting her ready for him, he inserted a third finger, and began thrusting in and out of her, bringing wetness with every thrust. Lina screamed as her orgasm exploded, sending a gush of juice over his hand.
Ryan moved away from her for a moment, watching the pure passion on her expressive face. When he moved over her, Lina put her hand on his chest.
“In the dresser,” she managed between breaths. “The doctor said use it.”
Ryan got up and went to the dresser, opened the drawer where she had put her clothes, and found the tube of lubricant. Taking it with him, he went back to the bed. He coated his massive cock heavily with the gel, then use his fingers to put some into Lina. Using his slick finger, he spread some of the gel on her anus, then pushed his finger into her tight opening.
“Ryan!” she cried, as her body responded to the sensational invasion. She shook violently as another orgasm rocked her.
Ryan moved his finger, held his cock as he positioned it against her opening, and with a slow, steady push, he entered her fully. Slick with the gel and her own secretions, Ryan was inside her without resistance, and Lina gasped at the filling of her.
“Ooooh, Ryan, yes!” Her hands went to his hips.
Ryan started moving in and out, filling her over and over, and Lina’s mind went into oblivion, filled with lust, crazed by passion.
“Lina…you feel so good…so damn good…” Ryan breathed, as he continued his thrusts. “Don’t stop…please, don’t stop…” she pleaded softly.
Ryan’s thrusts became harder and faster, and Lina met each one, pulling at his hips each time he filled her. Pounding against her, Lina’s body rocked.
“Ryan…it’s…I’m…” Then she tensed for only a second before she exploded, a hoarse scream ripping from her as her body writhed and jerked beneath him.
“Oh, yeah…Cum for me, Lina,” he whispered, low and husky. “Keep cumming for me.”
Unable to stop, Ryan pummeled into her, craving his own release, wanting hers again.
Lina, unable to come down from that peak, took more and more of Ryan’s hammering cock, the head bouncing off the back of her deep inside. Thrashing her head, she gripped the sheets, and continued to meet his thrusts.
Harder and faster, Ryan slammed into her, losing control. Lina moaned and whimpered, trying to reach another peak. Higher and higher, Lina started shaking, then she violently exploded, screaming Ryan’s name, her hands tearing at the sheet beneath her. As she exploded, Ryan slammed deeply into her and let out a hoarse, deep groan as his balls exploded, sending a rush of hot cum into her. His cock and balls throbbed, pushing out more cum, filling her.
Catching his weight on his elbows and knees, Ryan collapsed, and felt Lina go limp beneath him. They both heaved great gulps of air, and when he could, Ryan withdrew from her and moved over to lie beside her. They both lay limp for a long few moments, then Ryan pulled her into his arms.
“Are you all right?” he managed.
Lina could only nod. Tears filled her eyes. She had never known sex could or would be like that, and now that she did, she wondered what it would do to her. Would it make her crave it the way her mother had? She wrapped an arm about Ryan, pressed him close, and silent tears fell. She didn’t want any other man. She only wanted Ryan, but what if he didn’t always want her? The thought was agonizing, as well as terrifying.

Ryan made love to her twice more during the night, and three times during the next day. Lina loved his attention and affection, his lovemaking, and his vibrant passion. She loved his voice, his laughter, and the sparkle in his eyes when he looked at her. There was nothing she didn’t love about him, she realized, and every second was precious. Although she had known him so short a time, she knew she could be happy with him for the rest of her life.
Ryan made her no promises, no offers other than the moment, and Lina made no pretense that any of that would happen. She had learned the hard way to take one day at a time, to take nothing for granted, to assume nothing. She refused to pretend Ryan cared for her. If he did, he would say so. Somehow, she was certain of that.
With a heavy heart, Lina rode beside Ryan on the way back home, saddened the weekend was over, and nothing had changed. She would go back to work, and Ryan would go back to whatever he did. She worked days; he worked nights. Their time together had been limited to his nights off. She had no illusions that it would ever be anything more than weekend flings.
After Ryan left her at her apartment, she unpacked her things, including the sea shells she’d found on the beach that morning. Taking one of the pretty shells, she sat down on the sofa and cried. She missed him already, and she ached to spend her life with him.
“If my own parents didn’t love me, how can I expect anyone else to? Nobody ever has, so why do I hope Ryan will?” she asked aloud into the empty room.
Saddened by her thoughts, she went to bed.

Chapter Seven

Days came and went, and so did the weekend, without a word from Ryan. Lina wanted to call, but she had always been told that chasing after a man was wrong, and that calling a man was chasing after him. She didn’t want to appear desperate or slutty, so she kept silent.

After the third week, Lina was tired of crying, tired of wondering what she had done wrong over that weekend at the beach, tired of going over every single detail to try to figure out why Ryan had suddenly dumped her without a word.

Perhaps after he knew she really had healed, that she could have sex without problems, his guilt at hurting her had been assuaged, and he had shown her a better side of sex so that they could both move on. Lina, however, didn’t want to move on. She wanted Ryan, and only Ryan.

A month went by, and then two. Lina lost weight, couldn’t eat, and when she did, she lost it later. She went to work, went home, and did very little else. She went to the store only when she ran out of something, she did her chores when she felt the need, but mostly she cried and slept.

After a rough day of throwing up, afraid she would dehydrate, she forced herself to make a trip to the emergency room. She knew she couldn’t keep this up, but her nerves were shot. She had never needed anyone as she did at that moment. She needed Ryan, but she would not call him.

After tests, the emergency room physician confirmed that Lina was pregnant. She went limp as blackness clouded her brain.

If Lina had it figured correctly, she got pregnant the first time she slept with Ryan, even though she had bled so heavily from the tear inside her. That would make her about three months along. Even if Ryan wouldn’t want anything to do with her or the baby, she felt he had a right to know.

After days of contemplating, she picked up the phone and called the police department and asked for Ryan.
“I’m sorry. Detective Silver is on an extended leave of absence. Can someone else help you?” came the reply.
Lina almost laughed. “No, no one can help.” Bitterly, she replaced the receiver.

On Wednesday, Lina received the usual key club invitation, and she shook her head. “That’s how I got into this mess to begin with!” she said, angry that she still got the stupid invitations. She tossed it on the counter in the kitchen, made herself a sandwich, grabbed a soda, and went to watch television.

She knew she was already showing some, and as she thought about it, the more tempting the party seemed, before she grew as big as a house. Ryan obviously didn’t want her, so why was she moping around like a sick cow after him? Why shouldn’t she go out, maybe meet someone else? Because I’m pregnant, that’s why, she told herself. Nobody would want anything to do with a woman who was carrying another man’s child, and she’d be foolish to believe they would. Still, she needed to get out, do something, talk to someone, have a life.

Deciding she couldn’t find it there as she had hoped, Lina decided to pack up and move. She didn’t want to be tempted by the parties, and she didn’t want to be tempted to knock on Ryan’s door. She would find a new apartment, hire a moving company, and get out.

By the end of the month, Lina found a new apartment close to her job, had everything arranged for her move, and expected the moving company. She still had not heard from Ryan, and three calls to the department had been dead-ends as well.
As the moving company loaded her things, she jotted a note.

Ryan,
I thought you might want to know you’re going to be a father. I don’t expect you to take care of me or the baby. I won’t ask you for anything, but I did think it’s only right that you know. I don’t know what happened that you didn’t want to see me again, but an explanation would have been nice, and the right thing to do. I wish you happiness.
Lina

Hurrying to his apartment, she left it on the door, sealed in an envelope, and stuck with tape to keep it from blowing away. She’d written his name in bold letters across the front so he wouldn’t think it might be a sales ad of some kind. Painfully, she realized he didn’t want to see her, therefore she refrained from knocking to see if he was home. Even more painfully, Lina turned and walked away.

Lina settled into her new apartment, taking her time at unpacking a bit every day after work and on weekends, and once she was done, she bought things for the baby from every paycheck. Her new apartment had two bedrooms, one of which she turned into a nursery.

She finally felt the baby move, causing her to gasp and put her hand on her stomach. She smiled, knowing her baby was alive and well, and a part of Ryan grew inside her. Although still hurting for him, she loved him, and she knew that would never change. She only wished he had loved her in return. It was only when she felt movement that she grasped the full realization that she was going to be a mother, that she loved her child, and she wanted it more than anything.

When she went for her check up at the end of the week, they performed an ultrasound. Nervous, she lay on the table and watched. The baby kicked and moved it’s feet and hands, and Lina could clearly see the baby’s heart beating.

Happy tears filled her eyes. “Can you tell what it is yet?”
The technician smiled. “Sure can. It’s a boy.” She pointed out his tiny genitals. The tears escaped. “A son,” she said incredulously. “He’s beautiful.”
“Do you have a name yet?”
Lina smiled. “Ryan.”
“That’s a cute name.” She wiped the gel from her stomach and allowed her to fix her clothes.

“Congratulations!” She gave Lina several pictures from the ultrasound to take home. “Thanks.” Lina looked at the pictures, realizing what a miracle she had growing inside her.

Sitting on the couch, Lina marveled at the ultrasound photos, searching each one for any details she could find. A tender smile touched her face, and when the baby moved, she put her hand on her stomach, and her smile widened.

“It might be just you and me, but we’ll be fine. I promise,” she said to her baby. “I love you, and I’ll be the best mom you could ever want.”

A knock sounded on her door, which surprised her, since she never had company. Lina lay the photos on the coffee table and went to the door.
To her shocked surprise, Ryan Silver stood on the other side. In a split second, she noticed how pale and haggard he looked, as if he might fall over at any given second.
Lina stepped back, opening the door wider, and Ryan entered, walking slowly.
“We need to talk,” he said, his breathing seeming difficult.
“Are you all right?” His appearance worried her.
“I’m recovering, I guess.” He eased himself to the sofa, then let out a breath of relief.
Lina hurried over and sat beside him, studying his face. “What happened?”
“I got shot in a narcotics raid.”
Her hands went to her face, which paled significantly. “Oh, my God! Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I was in a coma. Nobody knew anything about you. I told my brother, but I didn’t give your name or anything. I wanted to see if it worked out. I had to have two surgeries. The first one was to put my guts back together after getting them ripped apart by an automatic machine gun, and that meant wearing a colonoscopy bag until they healed. Once that happened, I had to have surgery again to put everything back together and get rid of the bag. They did that last week. I’m just now getting on my feet again. I had to stay at my brother’s until I could take care of myself.” He looked at her. “Why did you move? You packed up and left, Lina. Didn’t you realize something was wrong when you didn’t hear from me?”
Hot tears filled her eyes. “I thought you didn’t want me. I wasn’t going to force you to. I moved because I didn’t want to risk seeing you with someone else, or seeing you going into one of the key parties.”
He put his hand on her hair. “Lina, didn’t you realize how I felt after the weekend at the beach?”
Lina shook her head. “I don’t know until I’m told. Nobody’s ever loved me, Ryan, so I don’t know what that’s like. I only know how I feel, what’s in my heart, because everyone else’s has been dark and cold.”
“Mine isn’t.”
She looked at him then. “Why are you here? I told you, I don’t expect anything.” “I’m here because I want to marry you.”
Lina shook her head. “I don’t want you to be obligated just because of the baby.”
“Look at me, Lina.” When she lifted her head, he told her, “It’s not like that. I wouldn’t want that, either. I love you, Lina. I have from the moment I set eyes on you. When you drew those keys out of that bowl, I knew I was yours from then on, not a one night stand. I adore you. I love making love with you, the way you respond, the way you love me in return. Don’t tell me you don’t love me, because I know you do. I see it every time you look at me. You loved me when you gave yourself to me. You couldn’t have otherwise.”
Lina lowered her head, unable to look at him. “I don’t know what love is.”
“Yes, baby girl, you do. You just never had anybody who wanted it, or would give it back. Now you do. I love you with all my heart, and I want you to love me with all of yours.”
Lina lifted the pictures from the ultrasound. “I got these today. Would you like to see them?”
“Of course!” He put an arm about her and pulled her close, then with his free hand, he took the pictures. “I’m not sure what I’m looking at.”
“Your son.”
Ryan’s head jerked up, then his lips curved into a beaming smile. He hugged her to him and kissed her several times over her face. “Thank you.”
“For?”
“Not getting rid of it. I was scared that when I found you, that you might not carry it. It’s hard, and I wasn’t sure…”
“Ryan,” she cut him off. “I would never do that. I am so in love with this baby, you wouldn’t believe. It never crossed my mind not to want it.”
“What about me?” he asked, searching her eyes. “Can you still love me, want me as much as you do the baby? I was going to ask you to marry me that same week after we got back from the beach. I wanted to buy a ring first, then we went on that raid, so I never did get the chance to see you.” He reached into his pocket and brought out a black velvet jeweler’s box. He turned it so that she could see inside when he opened it.
Nestled inside was a solitaire engagement ring, not too extravagant, yet not too small. Lina’s hand went to her throat. “It’s beautiful!”
“Not as beautiful as you.” He took it from the box, took her hand, and slipped it on her finger. “Marry me, Lina. I love you.”
Lina looked at him for a long moment, then realized he meant it. She saw it in his expression, in his eyes, the same look she had seen before but couldn’t identify until now.
She put her hand to his cheek. “Yes, I’ll marry you.”
He kissed her for a long, intoxicating moment, then broke the kiss to look at her. “Tell me you love me. I need to hear you say it.”
“I love you, Ryan Silver, with all my heart. I’ll try very hard to make you happy, to never disappoint you as a wife and mother, and I’ll try to be all that you could ever need and want.”
“You already are.” He kissed her again, then told her, “I still have a few weeks to recuperate, so if you’re ok with that, we could go ahead and get married.”
Lina smiled. “Of course. Whenever you wish.” She then took his hand and put it on her slightly rounded stomach. The baby moved against his palm, making Ryan laugh.
“To think, it all started with a key party neither of us wanted to go to,” he remarked.
Lina smiled. “Best party I ever went to!”
