Reaping the Rewards

This is what it is all about—let’s eat! There’s nothing like picking crops you have grown yourself. In Part 6, we look at the end product. You learn how to determine when it’s time to harvest and how to do it right. We include sections on canning, freezing, and drying food and there’s also some information on how to share what you grow with those who are less fortunate.

In these last few chapters you also learn about seed saving, which has become a near cult with wildly enthusiastic followers. Also included is a section on tool care and repair. Finally, you get a chance to take a guided look back on what you’ve accomplished, to see what you did right and to figure out what you can do better next year.
