“Trae, it’s time you mated and prepared to take your place in this pack,” growled Romel Wulfene, the pack Alpha.

Leaning his shoulder against a far wall in his father’s office, Trae observed his sire as the older man paced around behind his desk. This argument was an old one. They had one of his father’s ‘talks’ every few weeks, never to any avail.

“Look, Dad, we’ve been over this. I’m not trying to play Beta to your Alpha.”

“Damn it, Trae—” His father slammed his fist against the wooden top of the desk, cutting off his own words.

The furious anger of the Alpha wolf would have sent most of their pack members running for cover, but his father’s anger, which he translated to mean his father’s lack of understanding, caused Trae’s teeth to gnash.

Romel’s chest expanded as he inhaled. “Listen, son, I’m no fool. I know an Alpha male when I see one.” Straightening his tie as he raised himself up to his full six-foot-three height, his father composed himself. “As your father, it makes me proud that I have produced an heir who will have the strength and skill to lead the pack.”

Trae didn’t respond, he only shifted to lean his back against the wall and crossed his arms over his chest.

“However, as your Alpha, it grieves me to see you wasting precious time at that club you frequent nightly instead of sniffing through our pack to find a bitch to stand beside you and continue our blood line.”

It was no secret to Trae what his father thought of the place he and some of the other pack members frequented after work and at the weekends. It was a popular spot that many unattached paranormals visited. A place of lust and music. It was an environment where uncomplicated pleasures could be enjoyed—not an establishment for mate-finding. Trae knew this, and when he was honest with himself, he admitted it was his personal diversion tactic. Not that he wasn’t ready to settle down, he just didn’t want to be forced to stand second in command with a woman with whom he would have no connection besides the physical.

“It’s my time to waste.” Since puberty, Trae had understood the importance of finding a mate. The ability to keep the pack large and strong would ensure the safety of all who looked to them for protection. “Besides, we each have our own way of finding the right woman.”

His father shook his head. “You will not find her at that club.”

“Who knows?” Trae shrugged, pushed away from the wall and moved to stand behind the chair on the other side of the desk.

“We were too lenient with you. Your mother and I should have selected a mate for you from the pack, as my father did for me.”

It was Trae’s turn to growl as he gripped the back of the plush leather chair, his claws extending for a moment. “Yes, Dad, but don’t try and make it sound as if you took one for the pack. Mother turned out to be your mate, so there was no reason for you to fight the mating order.”

Romel sighed and ran a strong hand through his short, brown hair. “You’re right, Trae. But I need you to stand with me. You will either choose soon, or I must make the decision for you, and to hell with your anger.”

Retracting his claws, Trae closed his eyes, an attempt to rein in his resentment. He opened his eyes and gazed at his father. “What’s the rush, Dad? Am I not doing my job in the company? Pulling more than my own weight?”

Romel nodded. “You know I can’t find fault with your work at the office, Trae. I can bear witness you are the first one there in the morning, and usually the last one to leave.”

Tossing his hands high at his sides, Trae demanded, “Then what? What more, Dad? All I ask is for more time to find a mate who will be to me what mother is to you, someone the Great Spirit created with the other half of your soul.”

Coming around the desk, his father stopped before him and spoke in low tones. “I want that for you, too. But you ask for time when there is none left to give.”

The older man placed his heavy hand on Trae’s shoulder.

“The original pack in Oklahoma have sent word they are receiving pressure from a new, covetous pack to forfeit the land and town.”

This was the first Trae had heard of this issue. The Oklahoma pack was mostly made up of older weres, the descendants of those who had migrated to Oklahoma to protect the Native Americans there. Just as many of the tribes’ men had been lost, so the pack had been thinned out by natural deaths and by killings. Those who had survived had claimed land and built a town. At one time, the town had thrived, pack membership had grown and prospered, but over the years the younger weres had left for greener pastures, leaving the older members of the pack to fend for themselves. Trae’s grandfather and father had always taken an annual trip out there to ensure the mature members were all right. Evidently, this was no longer the case. “Why am I just hearing about this?”

“They believed they could handle things by themselves. The council only called a few hours ago requesting aid.” Lowering his hand, his father rounded his desk and stood behind it once again.

Never having known his father to lie to him or withhold information, Trae believed his Alpha’s words. “What are your plans?”

“I’m relocating to Oklahoma with your mother and sisters, and some other members of the pack, in a few weeks.”

Frowning, Trae asked, “Wouldn’t it make more sense for me to go?” He was beginning to see the bigger picture and the full reason his father had brought up the issue of his mating again now.

“No, son, it wouldn’t. Our pack here is thriving and strong. They will need a leader who can carry them through to the next stage. That’s you.” His father’s declaration rumbled like thunder.

The burden of his Alpha’s words rested on his shoulders like a boulder. “What do you need me to do?”

Pulling out his high-backed chair, Romel sat. “We’ll solidify the details this week. So, continue to enjoy your club at night while you can. Pray to the Great Spirit that he delivers your mate to you. And know this, son of mine—if he hasn’t by the time we have the induction ceremony instating you as Alpha of our pack, then your mother and I will see you bonded to a female that very night.”

“Good night, Dad.” There was nothing more to say.

“I’ll see you at the house, tomorrow evening. I’m sure your mother will want to talk to you, too.”

After agreeing to show up at the family home, Trae turned and headed out of his father’s office.

Normally, Trae would have been angry about his father’s intention to force a mate on him, but he wasn’t. He couldn’t be. His pack needed him. Needed him to be Alpha and show he had the ability to lead them and provide strong heirs.

A part of him no longer wanted to go to his nightly hangout spot. The thought of slaking his carnal lust with a partner or partners who would not be of benefit to his pack wasn’t appealing to him. However, the other part of him wanted this last night of freedom before the pressures and concerns of his pack became his first priority.

After tonight, he would have to resign himself to the knowledge that he had not found his mate. He also had to be truthful with himself and admit he hadn’t put in the right energy to locate her, either.

“I can’t believe I let you drag me here, Kelsey.” Olivia Sanders stared at her best friend in astonishment. Kelsey had hauled her into some wild and crazy things since they were college students, but this topped them all.

“Come on, Liv, live a little.”

That was the cute line Kelsey gave Olivia when she wanted her to do something daring. Something Olivia’s mind told her was most likely the wrong choice. “Feel my heart. It’s beating. I’m alive.”

“I’m going to make you prove it.” Kelsey fingered her short, blonde hair, ensured the strands with the heavy mousse hadn’t lost their wild spike as she stared across the street and looked at The Club.

Olivia assessed the three-storey structure as well, but with apprehension instead of excitement. The red neon lights with French script lettering shone more of a warning than a beacon of desire. There was something about this club.

A sense of being watched, observed, crept up her spine. She looked around but the street was empty. Not even an occasional pedestrian strolled by. In itself, the lack of other people wasn’t unusual, especially since The Club was ten minutes outside the city and five miles past Nowhereville. “I’m not sure this is a good idea.”

“This is a best friend’s job.” Grabbing Olivia’s arm, Kelsey pulled her behind her as she charged across the road to the two bouncers standing in front of the nightclub, one white and the other black.

“What is? Ensuring I die of mortification?” The closer they got to the door, the more her heart raced, and she started to feel a little off-balance.

Glancing back at her, Kelsey giggled. “No. Helping you fulfil your fantasy. Like you helped me with mine. So, get your ass movin’.”

“Going to a play party hosted by friends of ours and watching you get restrained and spanked, I could deal with.” She dug her four-inch heels in, halting their progress in the middle of the street. “But this…”

“It’s your fantasy, Liv,” Kelsey argued.

Too many games of Truth or Dare after several glasses of wine was never wise. From this moment on, she was crossing it off her list of girls’ night activities. Had she really told her best friend she wanted to have a ménage? She groaned. Shaking her head, Olivia said, “Great. I’ve changed my mind, so let’s go.”

“The hell we will.” Kelsey placed her hands on her hips. “Not after I’ve been poked, prodded and tested for every sexual disease known to man just to get approval to get into this pla—”

A midnight-blue Rolls Royce pulled up by the kerb between them and the club, putting an end to her friend’s tirade. A man stepped out of the back. He was tall, with broad shoulders and piercing eyes that settled on Olivia. They seemed to see into her soul. It was as if he stood directly in front of her, but away from her at the same time. His skin was darkly tanned and smooth, his features chiselled. He appeared to be a mix of white and Asian, giving him a mature Oriental surfer look, with his ink-black hair blunt-cut at the collar.

Heat began to swirl in her core. She couldn’t move until he finally turned away and strutted towards the club. She enjoyed watching the way the black leather pants clung to him and the matching long vest swayed and moved with his body.

She wanted him.

“Good evening, Anton,” one of the guards said as he opened the door to let him in.

Returning the greeting, the man disappeared behind the thick, oak double doors.

“Oh, shit. Did you see Mr Sexy Samurai? It’s possible I just came in my panties,” Kelsey moaned as she adjusted her micro-mini skirt.

Yeah, she’d seen him. For the first time that night, Olivia wanted to know what was behind those doors. What awaited her inside this ménage club? “It can’t hurt just to look around, right?”

“Damn straight,” Kelsey agreed. “I’d do you and him if I had to, just to get into this place.”

Olivia allowed the laughter to spill from her mouth. “I’ll keep that in mind.”

“Ladies, can I see your access cards, please?” One of the two mountains at the door held up his hand as they approached, barring their way.

Kelsey dug in her small clutch purse and pulled out a pair of cards. They had got the entrance passes thanks to Kelsey’s fantasy—the Dom who had restrained and spanked her had used his contacts to get them access.

The black guard took the cards and scanned them. Nodding, he said, “You two are good.”

“Enjoy, ladies.” The white man pulled the door open.

“We will,” Kelsey sang out as they entered the club.

The large doors closed behind them with a thud, sealing them inside, where the darkness was broken only by the flickering red-and-white strobes around the dance floor.

As soon as they crossed the threshold, Olivia knew there was more to the club than met the eye—more than the casual gossip outside its walls would suggest. It wasn’t Christina Aguilera’s Not Myself Tonight blasting loudly from the speakers, or the people gyrating on the floor in so many multiple groups she lost track of arms and legs. It was something else. She couldn’t explain it or put it into words. Patrons mingling around the outer perimeter of the large room stared at them, but the feeling of being watched was not what was causing the hair to rise on the back of her neck.

Just being inside this club was turning her on. Her skin felt as if a million fingers were caressing and stroking her. She looked around. No one was near them, but everyone seemed to be watching them, especially the men and women lounging around the bar and tables. As if they were waiting for something.

“Kelsey, how you doin’?” Olivia turned to look at her friend.

“I’m good, but I’ll be even better as soon as I get out there and dance.” Kelsey swung her hips from left to right, following the beat of the song and the moving bodies on the dance floor. Nothing in her friend’s body language showed Kelsey responding to this club any differently than she would to any party. Kelsey took a step in the direction of the dance floor.

Olivia grabbed her arm. “You can’t leave me by myself.”

Facing her, Kelsey said, “Liv, I was just joking when I said I’d do you with that tanned hunk.”

Olivia put her hands on her hip and eyed her friend. “I’m not even going to dignify that with a response.” She glanced over her shoulder, then leaned over to her friend’s ear. “Something’s up with this place. I feel—”

“Good. You’re supposed to ‘feel’. That’s why we’re here, remember?” Kelsey winked at her and shimmied her body from side to side.

Olivia rolled her eyes.

Stopping her movements for a second, Kelsey spoke seriously. “Our cell phones are fully charged.” She tapped the Bluetooth device flashing in her ear. “We’ll meet back in this spot when the club closes. If you need me before that, call me. I’ll tear this place down to find you.”

Now, that was the Kelsey she knew, street chick to the core. That’s why Olivia would never have allowed anyone else to know her deepest fantasy and accompany her to fulfil it. Olivia might have mastered kick boxing, but for a white girl, Kelsey knew down-and-dirty, kick-off-the-heels-and-remove-your-earrings style fighting.

Smiling broadly, Olivia nodded. “Got it.”

“Good.” Blowing her a kiss, Kelsey headed to the dance floor and was quickly swallowed up in the masses.

Trae watched the medium-height black woman talking to her friend at the door. She and the white girl were matched in height and similar in dress with their mini-skirts, one with a midriff-revealing top and the other wearing a sheer shirt that displayed the red bra beneath it. The bra matched the bold colour of the red shoes they both wore. The similarities ended there. The black woman’s skin was as dark as obsidian and she wore her straight, ebony hair clipped high on her head, so that it made a sort of rooster-tail down to her shoulders. The style bared the long column of her throat. He wondered if she knew what type of signal she was sending out to some of the inhabitants of the room. He allowed himself a cocky smile. Probably not.

She looked skittish, as if any moment she was going to run out of the door. However, even from this distance, his preternatural sense of smell enabled him to pick up on her arousal. As much as the little rabbit was nervous, she was turned on more. Her scent was so heady in the air he could taste it. Unable to stop himself, he licked his lips. This woman would be a delicious diversion from the things weighing on his mind. Just for a night.

“She makes me thirsty.” Diego, a buddy of his, swiped his own tongue out as if tasting the air.

“Mm-hm. She’s a first-timer.”

Diego shifted his weight away from the bar, where he was nursing a Coke. “You want to see if we can interest her in a trip upstairs?”

Trae's hand shot out, smacking against Diego's chest, stopping his friend’s progress. It wasn’t as if they weren’t loyal members of the club, or as if he and Diego hadn’t shared women in the past. But Diego enjoyed roughness. He never exerted his innate strength too far, but he balanced on a fine edge between pain and pleasure, which some women craved. Maybe if it had been the feisty little friend, who was now lost among the dancers, but there was something about this one that screamed ‘innocent’. Innocence of a kind that called for gentleness and seduction, a man or men to help her come out of her shell. Not restraints and hard smacks on the ass.

“I’ll approach her first and if she’s interested in your kind of play, I’ll signal you over.” Dropping his hand, he cocked his head to the side and eyed the other man. “Straight.”

Diego was a horny man, but he wasn’t stupid. He recognised superior strength. His pack member didn’t know it, yet, but in a matter of days Trae would be his Alpha. The head dog.

The other man nodded his compliance. Diego’s contrite gaze shifted away from Trae and he briefly lowered his gaze to the ground.

Trae approached the woman from behind, with purpose, keeping his steps methodical. “Welcome to The Club,” he whispered beside her ear.

Obviously startled, she jumped and barely stifled a scream, making an odd squeaking sound. “Oh, man, you scared me.”

Moving to face her, he gave her a sly smile. It had been his plan, because as nervous energy increased around her, her arousal intensified, too. She was a delectable treat. If someone spooked her again, she just might orgasm where she stood.

“Forgive me, I couldn’t resist.” He inhaled slowly, taking in her scent, the essence of her, like a drug. “I’m Trae.” He held his hand out to her.

Giving him a tentative smile, she slipped her hand into his. He encased her long, soft fingers with his own.

Her soft, brown gaze reached his face. “Olivia.”

“So, whose idea was it to come here?”

She fidgeted a little in her heels and looked at her hand, which he still held. However, she did nothing to try to pull it away. “Mine. Kinda.”

He resisted the desire to pull her closer to his body, wanting her trust. “People come to The Club for different reasons.”

She swallowed and said, “It’s a ménage club. I would think everyone came for the same thing.” She frowned.

“But ménage holds so many different possibilities.” Taking his time, he emphasised each word to catch her reaction. “Style. Technique. Position. Level of intensity.”

Olivia bit down on the side of her lip as she listened to him.

He groaned and ended it with a small growl, allowing her to hear his pleasure. Lowering his gaze to where her sex was hidden beneath the tiny skirt, he noticed her squeezing her thighs together. He felt her arousal spike. Slowly, he lifted his gaze and met hers. Smiling, he let her know he knew how turned on she was.

She inhaled quickly, but exhaled more slowly, most likely in an attempt to calm herself. It barely decreased her response to him. He could smell it. He enjoyed the knowledge.

Continuing, he stroked the inside of her wrist with his fingers. “There are some who only want oral sex.” Another increase in the scent of her arousal. “Others want to be spanked.” No notable response. “Some people come here because they want a dual fucking.” Bingo.

Trae could not have mistaken her reaction to his last comment if he’d wanted to. Not only did her breathing turn to a near pant, but her sexual juices rushed between her legs so powerfully that the scent caused the head of every preternatural in the club to turn to her.

The attention on her caused him to pull her close. If he didn’t stake his claim on her, he’d find himself in a feral brawl, fighting all comers.

She whimpered as he brought her body against his.

“Olivia. We could dance around why you came, but that would just be wasting a lot of time when we could be relishing more pleasurable pursuits.”

Hesitantly, she asked, “So, how does this work?”

“I’m a gentleman. The lady gets to pick her other partner.” He lifted his other hand and stroked his thumb over her full bottom lip. “Choose quickly, or I will.”

Nodding, she took a moment to scan the room. First she glanced to the left, where he and his friends had been gathered. Then she looked to the right. He had the impression she was looking for someone specific.

“Him,” she called out. “The man that has the look of a sexy samurai.”

Shifting his gaze to locate the third she wanted for their trio, Trae spotted him sitting off to the side, at a table with two women.

No.

“Pick someone else,” he barked. There were elemental reasons why the club was divided. He and most of the people there understood it, even if his pretty little rabbit didn’t. Though surely she knew the kind of people—the kind of creatures—who frequented this club?

“My choice,” she declared. “I want him.”

Trae couldn’t deny her wishes, verbally or physically.

Perhaps Olivia didn’t know how unusual her request was. It wasn’t something that was normally done…but it wasn’t the first time it had ever happened, either.

Glancing pointedly at Anton, he waited for the other man to meet his gaze. Anton’s hearing wasn’t as good as his own, but he would certainly know they were discussing him. Waiting for him.

It was a game that Anton and his comrades enjoyed playing. Manipulation. Testing his fucking patience as if they had all the time in the world.

Finally making eye contact, Anton leaned over and spoke to the ladies. Then he stood. In a blink, he was beside them.

Olivia gasped, looking from Anton to the table where he’d just been sitting.

Trae could almost hear her mind turning, trying to make sense of how Anton had crossed the room so fast. She really was deliciously naïve.

Taking a small step back, Trae introduced them. “Anton, this is Olivia.”

Olivia’s smile was sweet and trembled a little at the corners. She held out her free hand, the other still intertwined with Trae’s.

Anton took her hand but, instead of shaking it, he turned it over, palm-up. Leaning forward, he grazed her wrist with his lips. He paused for a moment, then straightened.

“How can I be of service to such a deliciously sensuous beauty?”

Oh, shit. If Olivia’s scent of arousal increased any further, Trae would bend her over and fuck her where she stood.

“Join us,” Olivia whispered.

His sexy rabbit was feeling more self-assured—which Trae would have liked more if it hadn’t involved their present company.

Lifting a single eyebrow, Anton moved his gaze from Olivia to Trae.

Trae bit out, “Her request, not mine.”

Still holding her hand, Anton pulled her to him and placed his lips against her ear. “Is that correct, Olivia?” He paused and caressed her neck with his lips. “Do you desire us both? Do you want us to bring you to a level of ecstasy you’ve never experienced before?”

Hearing Anton’s whispered question clearly, Trae waited for Olivia’s response.

She let out a husky confirmation. “Yes.”

“Then let’s go to more comfortable surroundings,” Anton said.

Trae steered Olivia in the direction of the back stairs with a firm hand on the small of her back. They passed the mob of dancers and for a moment she glanced to the side and caught Kelsey’s gaze as she executed a bump-and-grind move between a guy and a girl. She noticed her friend making a quick check of Trae and Anton, then she winked at her. She was letting Olivia know that, having seen both men with her, she could ID them to the cops if anything went wrong.

As she walked up the stairs in front of Trae and Anton, she couldn’t have said which of them was directly behind her, but she could feel their gazes. It was an intense feeling, hot. A sensation so strong it felt as if hands were actually caressing her spine and ass. The impression caused her nipples to tighten and her sex to pulse and throb.

A sound, similar to an animal’s growl, echoed behind her. She glanced over her shoulder when she reached the landing. The hallway was dim, but well-lit enough for her to see their features. Trae was directly behind her, with Anton following.

“The room two doors down on the left,” Trae directed.

Turning, she obeyed his instructions. As she entered the upstairs room with the two men in tow, Olivia’s heart beat fast with excitement. I’m really going to do this.

She thought she might faint at any moment. She had no doubt these two sexy men could make her feel as if she’d died and gone to heaven, but she wanted to lose her wits while she was experiencing their passion, not before it had even started.

Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she stared at the men in the tastefully simple black and gold room. Both were over six foot in height and had a penchant for leather, except Trae wore only pants and boots. Anton’s Euro-Asian looks were complemented by Trae’s rugged appeal. His skin was only two shades lighter than Anton’s, and his hazel eyes, short, brown hair and the five o’ clock shadow gracing his chin made him seem wild next to Anton’s groomed restraint.

The combination of the two and the thought of what this night would entail turned her on.

“I’ve never done this before,” she admitted.

“Don’t worry, gorgeous rabbit, we’ll handle it all,” Trae reassured her as he stepped forward.

“Just enjoy,” Anton said. “We will.”

2

Trae cupped her face. Leaning in, he began to kiss her. Not one of those teasing kisses that played on the outside of her lips. No, he claimed her mouth, driving his tongue inside as if he couldn’t bear another moment without tasting her. She loved it.

Anton caressed her body as he divested her of her clothing, leaving her in only her red shoes.

As soon as she had stepped out of her skirt and panties, Trae ended the kiss and dropped to his knees before her.

“You have been driving me crazy all night.”

She didn’t fully comprehend Trae’s words, nor did she try. All thought left her as he gave her pussy the same passionate kiss as he had her mouth. Over and over again, his tongue dived between her folds, tasting her. Anton wasn’t idle, either. He pressed his hard form along her back as he wrapped his arms around her and played with her breasts, massaging and squeezing her nipples.

The orgasm that had been building since she’d approached the club finally erupted from her. Trae forced her legs wider as he continued to consume the cream flooding her sex.

“The bed.” Anton’s voice came out in a rush, belying his original, nonchalant façade.

Scooping her into his arms Anton carried her, still adorned in her red shoes, to the bed and lay her in the middle of it. At some point he’d discarded his long vest. Leaning over her, he kissed her, showing her his urbane erotic talent. He kept a leisurely pace, slower and more seductive than Trae’s, but no less mind-blowing.

Leaving her mouth, he licked a trail to her breast and scraped her nipple with his teeth. The sharp scratch caused sensual delight to erupt through her body, making her clit throb in response.

“Oh,” she moaned.

Drawing her nipple into his mouth, he suckled her until she was squirming beneath him, searching for satisfaction.

“I do believe she just may be ready for us.” Trae spoke above her head.

Opening her eyes, she stared at the delicious nude body of her tall, rugged white dream as he quickly removed his pants and boots. His well-sculpted body was built for pleasure. She reached up and took hold of his long, thick cock. She angled her head and took him into her mouth. His taste was a heady, earthy blend, giving rise to thoughts of unleashed danger. Not that she believed he would hurt her, but she could sense there was an animalistic strength inside him. She wanted to feel his wildness consume her.

She was aware of Anton slipping down her body. How could his touch feel so cool, yet at the same time seemed to absorb the warmth from her body and return it to her? When he began to sample her sex with his mouth, all thoughts evaporated. He swirled his agile tongue around her clit, persuading her blood to pump more strongly, causing the kernel of desire to harden further. Thrusting her hips against Anton’s delightfully sinful attentions, she took Trae deeper into her mouth, moaning around him.

Trae let out a sound—an unmistakable growl.

Anton’s mouth completely covered her pussy as something sharp pierced the sides of her clit and he drew firmly on her sex. Before she could question what he’d done, she was coming in long, hard waves. One orgasm turned into two and blended into three.

Trae pulled out of her mouth.

Now, she’s ready for us,” Anton announced.

Through a haze of enchantment, she noticed Anton licking his lips. Her mind must have been playing tricks on her, because it looked as though he had blood on his mouth. When she refocussed her eyes, it was gone, and his handsome face hovered over her with a wicked smile and a brilliant, onyx gaze.

A drawer closed somewhere behind her.

Shucking off his pants and boots, Anton stood before her in all his toned glory. His cock was just as long and magnificent as Trae’s.

He came to the bed and covered her with his body. “Are you ready for the ride of your life, Olivia?”

“Oh, yes.” She wrapped her arms around his shoulders.

Anton’s thick cock pressed against her pussy. She arched her hips as he worked his length inside her, stretching her to accommodate him.

“Sweet, wet and tight.” He kissed her lips.

“Position her for me, Anton,” said Trae.

“My pleasure.” Anton scooped his arms under her legs and spread them wide. He rose, pulling her with him, their bodies still locked together. With grace and skill, he knee-walked them to the middle of the bed.

“Perfect.” Trae’s body dipped the bed down behind her.

Trae kissed her shoulder and stroked the crease of her ass with his slick hand. The sensation caused her to grind her hips against Anton.

“Oh, darling, you feel so good,” Anton whispered in her ear.

“I can’t wait to find out,” Trae murmured. He slipped one silky finger, slick with jelly, inside her and stroked the sensitive walls of her ass. She leaned against Anton, loving the hedonistic titillation.

Removing his hand, Trae spoke softly in her other ear, “Relax, baby, we’re going to make this good for you.” His dick pressed against her furrowed entry.

As Trae slowly pushed deeper into her ass, a burning sensation crawled up her spine. When she wasn’t sure if she could take any more, Anton pulled partially out of her pussy. Then Trae ground his length all the way in.

She cried out as Anton retuned, fully impaling her on them both.

“You are a dream, Olivia,” Trae murmured along her shoulder, squeezing her hips in his hands.

She liked the idea of being his dream, since both these men were her fantasy come true.

They began to move in tandem. As one pulled out, the other pushed in.

Fisting Anton’s hair, she gazed into his eyes. Eyes that only moments before had been black now appeared crimson, matching the colour of the heels she still wore. The thought that had been tickling the back of her mind, that something was different about this club, began to unravel and reveal what she hadn’t wanted to see. “Anton, what’s wrong with your eyes?” Her voice came out soft and hesitant.

“Hunger, Olivia. When I desire the taste of blood in my mouth. Sex makes me crave it strongly.” His lips drew back and she could clearly see his fangs.

A vampire. She was screwing a fucking vampire, a clandestine figure of the night. In and out, he continued to thrust and grind against that spot that made her toes curl in her shoes. Her pussy gripped and shuddered around his cock.

Trae’s chuckle rolled along her shoulder. Whipping her head around, she expected to see a second set of red eyes. That wasn’t the case. His hazel gaze met hers. Rotating his hips, Trae slipped his dick deeper inside her ass.

He was human, then… But a low growl said otherwise. “You’re not human, either.”

“I’m a wolf, my little rabbit.” Pulling out, he pressed his length back in again, grinding his hips against her backside.

These men weren’t giving her a moment to catch her breath—the erotic play kept her on the edge of another orgasm, whether she wanted it or not. Her mind tried to revolt, even as her body yielded, ravaged by need. It wasn’t as if she hadn’t heard about paranormal beings living among them, but she’d always believed they stayed with their own kind, kept to the shadows. However, she’d willingly walked into their lair, their nest, crossed into their turf like a ready sacrifice. Damn Kelsey! She’d been so confident she’d found out everything they needed to know about The Club.

Looking from one to the other, she said, “But, you all don’t get along.” Was that another myth?

Trae glanced at Anton. “We’ve been known to come to a mutual understanding, when the need arises.”

“For you, Olivia, it definitely rises.” Anton shoved his cock hard into her and groaned.

Run. The word exploded in her mind like a grenade. Digging her nails into Anton’s chest, she attempted to shove away from them. This was all too much, too fast. She felt as if she needed a moment to get herself together, collect her thoughts and maybe…

Like two stone walls, they held their positions around her, unmoveable. She looked from one man to the other.

“If you don’t want this, we’ll stop and take you back to your friend,” Trae volunteered.

Both men halted their movements and began to pull out.

A moment’s relief was swamped by a sudden, aching feeling of loss. She whimpered. Her gaze locked with Trae’s. There was something in his eyes, as if a light radiated through them, coming from deep within his soul.

She began to shake. Her lungs contracted and she felt as if she couldn’t breathe. His heart beat drummed against her back, feeling as if it beat in time with hers. Strange. At that moment she couldn’t figure out the reason, couldn’t determine the bond with him, possibly with them both, but she knew in her core she shouldn’t leave. Couldn’t leave. Exhaling she made her decision and prayed it was the right one.

“No,” she insisted. This night had been more than she’d expected. Now every part of her being wanted to see it through. “Stay. This is my fantasy and I want it all.”

Trae kissed the nape of her neck.

“You’ve got it.” Still holding her thighs, Anton tightened his grip and he began to thrust deep into her pussy.

Trae kept a firm hold of her hips and fucked her ass.

She began to climax as Trae bit into the trapezius muscle above her shoulder and swept her further into paradise. When Anton sank his teeth into her neck on the other side and drank from her, her orgasm intensified. She screamed through her release as both men met her in the welcoming arms of ecstasy.

Olivia lay on the bed, exhausted and pleased. Anton gingerly licked the side of her neck and drew designs along her breasts with his finger. Trae lay with his head pillowed against her belly and lightly caressed her thighs. Her red heels were now discarded on the floor. They’d just left the shower, where both men had bathed and pleasured her again with their mouths and hands.

She didn’t know why she wasn’t freaking out. Why she hadn’t gone screaming from the room in terror. Vampires were supposed to be scary creatures. Blood suckers that took lives and controlled people with their powers. Nobody she knew had ever even met one—they kept to the shadows.

Not to mention their arch enemies, the werewolves, who were reportedly just as bad, ripping to shreds anything in their path. From what she knew, they were creatures of the wilderness. She would never have expected to meet one in an urban nightclub, even one out in the middle of nowhere.

Trae and Anton were the things that people always talked about in the coffee shops after full moons. The reasons mothers locked up their teenage daughters at night—rumours abounded about how a vampire could persuade a young girl to flee everything and follow them.

Was that it? Was she under Anton’s spell? Was that why she’d stayed and let them do naughty things to her through the night? She stared down at both men, languidly caressing her body, and thought back to the things they had done together. She could have said no, and they would have stopped and walked away. No, she hadn’t been controlled by anything but her hormones.

She sighed. It was a shame this all had to end. That she’d never see either of them again unless she came here. It was a depressing thought.

Trae lifted his head and held her gaze with his hazel-eyed stare. For a moment, she experienced warmth flooding her insides. It was different from the arousal she had felt all night simply from being around the two men. It was as though there was a weird connection between them, a bond. The look was intense, but he remained silent and returned to lying on her again.

Leaning up, Anton gazed down at her, his eyes once again onyx. “As enjoyable as the time in your arms has been, I must leave now.”

Taking a deep breath, she slowly exhaled and tried to balance her mind.

Beyond Anton’s shoulder, she could see through the gap in the curtains the first signs that the night was coming to an end. It wasn’t daylight yet, but the darkness was starting to recede.

Glancing at him, she cupped his face. “Thank you, Anton. You helped make this night truly memorable.” She kissed him. “Maybe we’ll meet here again.”

Trae’s growl echoed through the room.

Lifting a sable eyebrow, Anton met Trae’s gaze. Olivia didn’t miss the intense vibe and the hidden message that seemed to be passing between the two men.

“Who knows? I’ve been around too long and know too much to make promises. Life is too unexpected.” He leaned lower and licked the side of her neck. “You were a true treat, Olivia.”

She couldn’t help but notice that his response, though pleasant, was casual—but maybe that was for the best.

As he got up, Trae’s voice taunted him. “Hurry along now. You don’t want to be up past your bedtime.” His words tickled her as his breath played across the skin of her belly where he lay.

Pulling on his pants, Anton flashed his suddenly red gaze at Trae. “Be glad I don’t like dog blood.”

Placing her palm over her mouth, she hid her smile. He’d drunk her blood, twice, and the thought made her tingle. Something inside her warned her not to hold on too tightly to it, because this was probably it for them. Anton had made that clear. She wouldn’t regret her time with him, though.

Propping himself up on his forearm beside her, Trae woofed, his voice taking on a menacing tone. “Be glad I don’t shift.” He didn’t move as he focused his gaze on the vampire. There was a clear note of threat in his words, as if he was giving Anton a cue. A warning.

At that moment, Olivia saw the intrinsic rivalry as the men faced off. She couldn’t deny the thrill of knowing they had put their animosity aside to please her.

“Oops, here comes the sun,” Trae teased, his body relaxing once again.

Anton glanced over his shoulder at the lightening sky, then turned to her. “Olivia.” He bent down and kissed her again. He stepped back and pulled on his boots, then spoke to Trae. “We will continue this later, pooch.”

Trae’s hand began making lazy circles on her body. “See if you can find me after dark, bat.”

Crossing towards the door, Anton paused briefly as he lifted his hand towards his coat, on a chair where it had been discarded earlier. The coat instantly appeared in his hand. He donned it, winked at Olivia, than was gone in a puff of black smoke without opening the door. She gasped, stunned by what she had seen—or not seen. She blinked repeatedly and frowned as she tried to figure out how he’d created the smoke. Even though she knew he was a vampire—he’d drunk her blood as he’d fucked her, after all—a tiny part of her rational mind protested that maybe he’d used something like magicians used.

“Parlour tricks.” Trae rolled his eyes as he moved up her body.

“A pretty good one, I’d say.” Turning away from the door, she looked at him.

“I’ll show you good.” Leaning down, he circled her nipple with his tongue. “Since I don’t have to cower in a dark room this morning, how about I take you out to breakfast?”

Food sounded great. She was famished after last night’s marathon of pleasure. “That would be gre—Ohmygod, I forgot about Kel—”

The ringing of her phone interrupted her. Scrambling from the bed, she located it in the back pocket of her skirt, where it lay haphazardly in the middle of the floor. “Hello,” she blurted.

“Olivia? Are you okay?” Concern laced Kelsey’s words.

Glancing towards the bed and seeing Trae’s nude, sexy body stretched out, she said, “I’m fabulous.”

Kelsey laughed. “I figured as much when I saw you head up the stairs last night with those two sex gods.”

Sex gods? More like a vampire and a werewolf. “You just don’t know.”

“No bragging,” Kelsey chided, and giggled. “What time will you be ready to head out?”

Trae beckoned her with a finger.

Unable to resist him, she crossed back to the bed. “How long till the club closes?”

“Thirty minutes,” Kelsey informed her.

Sinking onto her knees on the bed, she said, “I’ll be down in twenty.”

Trae shook his head and ran his hand up the inside of her thigh, then cupped her pussy.

She stifled a moan. “Make that twenty-five.”

His finger slipped down between her folds and entered her.

“Thirty,” Olivia barely got out as she pushed the red button and dropped the phone onto the night stand.

“I think that’s manageable.” Trae pulled her into his arms and rolled until she was beneath him. “This doesn’t have to end, Olivia.” Those hazel eyes captured hers with the same intense stare as before as he continued, “It’s possible that you didn’t freak out when you discovered the truth because somewhere inside you…” His voice drifted away as he tapped her chest above her heart. “You knew you were where you were supposed to be. With whom you were supposed to be.”

Her heart leapt. Oh, shit, has he read my mind?

Yes.

Shocked, she realised his lips hadn’t moved but she had heard him clearly. Now she was going to freak out. Wriggling beneath him, she placed her hands on his chest and tried to push him away.

Trae held fast. He lifted a hand and stroked her face, calming her. When she stilled, he began to kiss her. Not the passionate, all-consuming kiss he’d given her earlier. But one that was slow and gentle. This kiss was like a caress as he slipped his tongue into her mouth and met hers in an erotic, silky glide.

We’re mated for life, Olivia. He didn’t stop kissing her, forcing her to communicate his way. The Great Spirit has brought my mate to me.

I’m not a werewolf, she finally thought.

In your mind, it doesn’t make sense. He nipped her bottom lip, then entered her mouth again.

No, it doesn’t. She stroked his shoulders.

But in your heart it does. Give us a chance—that’s all I ask. There’s much we need to discuss. Soon. He ended the kiss.

Staring up at him, she could see the astonishment darkening his greenish-brown eyes. The discovery that there was something more than a night of passion between them appeared to have come as a surprise to the werewolf in her arms, too. Reaching up, she brushed a short lock of hair back from his forehead. It was good to know that she wasn’t the only one thrown off balance by the revelation.

She parted her legs so he could settle between them, and they remained that way for a moment, just gazing at each other.

There was so much they still needed to discuss, but she wasn’t sure at that moment how much more her mind could handle. “Maybe I should take Kelsey home before breakfast, so she doesn’t feel like a third wheel.”

He kissed the tip of her nose and stroked his hard shaft along her wet sex. “This from the woman who spent the night in the arms of two men?”

“Okay, okay. That was different.” She ran her hand through his short, brown hair.

“Never fear. I’ll bring my friend Diego along. I think they’d enjoy getting to know each other.”

Lifting her brows, she asked, “Are you sure?”

He gave her a wicked smile, allowing just one side of his mouth to lift. “Trust me. Kelsey seems to me to be a tough woman who likes a man with a strong hand.”

“Wow, you’re good.” He’d hit Kelsey’s personality on the head.

“Not yet, but I’m about to be.” Reaching into the nightstand, he pulled a condom from inside and efficiently slipped it into place.

She gave him a questioning look. Neither man had worn a condom earlier.

Seeing her expression, he informed her, “Unlike vamps, weres can reproduce without biting someone and feeding them their blood.”

Her mouth made an O as she blushed, feeling grateful that he’d had concern for her. Her body tingled with the knowledge that this man didn’t only care for her, but believed she was his mate. That awed her.

He winked at her, reminding her he could read her thoughts.

“Is this mind-reading going to be an all-the-time thing?” She pouted.

“It wouldn’t be if you were a were. Then, you’d be able to block me.”

She was speechless. That was a big leap, to decide to become a were.

He kissed her, then nipped her chin and said, “That’s a discussion for later. Much later. Until then, I can choose not to do it.”

“Phew!” Grinning, she brushed her fingers along the prickly hair lining his jaw.

His chuckle was a deep, baritone rumble.

Settling himself over her again, he began to guide his cock inside her. “One thing you need to know, Olivia, if you want to pursue this.” He pushed farther inside, causing her sex to tighten around him. “I don’t share my mate.”

“What about The Club?” She didn’t have plans to come back any time soon, but having a ménage was something she had enjoyed. He must also like it, or he wouldn’t be here.

“That’s in the past for me.”

She thought of Anton and the pleasure he had brought her with Trae. “Why?” she whined playfully.

“Since you now understand that we are connected… Sexually, it is very hard not to bond with you. Through the night, I could hear you.” He growled, “I’d prefer never again to know how sexually gratifying it is to you when someone is sucking your blood as you climax.” Gazing into her eyes, he asked, “Can you handle that?”

She couldn’t help giggling at his possessive tone. “Sorry.” Then she gave him a loud, smacking kiss. “I can deal with it.” Wrapping her legs around his hips, she said, “Now, stop wasting time, Wolf Boy. If I know Kelsey, she’ll come hunting for me if I’m not downstairs soon.”

He arched a single eyebrow. “Now that would be an erotic threesome.” He gyrated, pushing deeper into her. “We are still at The Club.”

Squeezing his ass, she informed him, “Yeah, and we’re still fulfilling my fantasy. We’ll discuss yours at a later date.” Flexing her thighs around his waist, she warned, “Just remember that if you don’t want a vampire in our bed, you should think twice about inviting my friends.”

“Deal.” Trae began to make love to her, wiping everything else from her mind.

“Finally. I thought one of these thick-necked bouncers was going to throw me out.” Kelsey greeted them at the stairs as they went down thirty minutes later.

Trae eyed the little spitfire as she hugged Olivia. He glanced at Dennis, a fellow were, and Carlton, a vamp, as they stood inside the club, now escorting partiers to the door. Looking for his friend, Trae found Diego behind the bar, helping the manager to straighten things up. Trae signalled him over.

“Trae wants us all to do breakfast,” Olivia told her friend.

Kelsey’s shoulders dropped. “Aww, Liv. I’m worn out. I just want to go home and climb into bed.”

“That sounds like a delicious idea,” Diego interjected as he stepped closer to their small group.

Trae watched Kelsey eye the six-foot-four, bald-headed Hispanic male with interest. “And you are?”

“Kelsey, Diego. Diego, Kelsey,” Trae introduced.

His friend’s gaze slowly went from Kelsey’s short, spiky blonde hair, over her tight top, cupping her large breasts, down past her tiny skirt and finally to the red pumps on her feet. Meeting her eyes again, he said, “I remember you. You’re the feisty one who clocked Preston on the dance floor.”

“What?” Olivia screeched, concern for her friend etched on her features.

Relax, baby, Trae said inside Olivia’s head.

Placing her hand on her hip, Kelsey cocked her head to the side. “If you mean the jerk that kept manhandling me and getting fresh with his hands up my skirt, hell, yeah.”

A huge smile split Diego’s face. “Preston is a prick.” Diego stepped towards her. “Evidently, you need a man who knows when and where a lady enjoys a little force. On the floor isn’t it.”

Kelsey closed the gap, pressing herself close to Diego and looking up at him. “You think that’s you?”

Reaching out, Diego lightly caressed Kelsey’s cheek. “Sí, señora bastante pequeña.”

Trae watched the short, white woman blush.

That’s a first, Olivia thought.

Trae chuckled at Olivia’s thoughts. He leant down and whispered in her ear. “A night of firsts, rabbit.”

Turning into his arms, she said, “I’m not sure how I feel about that pet name.” Arching a thin, black eyebrow, she continued, her voice low, “Don’t wolves devour rabbits on a regular—”

Trae pressed his lips to hers. As I did tonight and plan to do often.

Olivia shivered against him and sighed. Ending the kiss, she stepped back and faced her friend. “Are we good for breakfast, now? I’m starving.”

“I’m ready.” Trae wrapped his arm around Olivia’s waist, fitting her along his side.

“I’m in,” Kelsey confirmed.

“Definitely,” Diego added.

As they all headed out of the door, Trae heard Diego ask, “So, Kelsey, you ever fuck a were?”

“A what?” Kelsey’s voice held the evidence of her confusion.

“Excuse Diego, Kelsey, sometimes he gets a little ahead of himself.” Trae shot Diego a look of warning. It wasn’t that weres kept themselves a secret from society—many people knew about them, worked with them—however, they were never bold about their lives unless they had good reason to be.

He glanced at Olivia, as she gazed at her friend, as they all left The Club.

Olivia was a prime example of a good reason.

Trae watched his father, his Alpha, as he pushed out, one stroke after another, gliding across their back yard pool. It was his father’s daily regimen, what he did to focus, clear his mind and stay in shape. It was late on Saturday afternoon. After he’d had breakfast with Olivia and her friend, Trae had given her a soft kiss goodbye, then driven around the city for hours, attempting to get his thoughts and his life in order. Now, showered and changed from his night garb, he felt a little more mentally refreshed.

When his father finally broke the surface and paused for breath, Trae crossed the flagstone path until he stood over him. “Dad, when you’re done with your reps, I need you to meet me in the study.”

“This must be serious if you’re requesting my presence.” Romel waded around in the deep end of the pool, staring up at him.

“It is.” Trae turned to leave.

“Does this have to do with our discussion yesterday?” His father called after him.

Turning around again, he saw his dad was already hoisting himself out of the pool. “It does, but I’d prefer to talk about it when you and Mom are together.”

“Your mother already knows about the meeting?” Water ran in rivulets down Romel’s broad, hairy chest and his legs.

“I saw her in the kitchen when I came downstairs.”

Signalling his agreement with a nod, his father snatched up a towel from one of the lounge chairs scattered around the pool.

As Trae continued towards the house it amazed him how, in less than twenty-four hours, he had shifted away from the carefree lifestyle of the son of an Alpha to feeling the weight of leadership pressing down on his shoulders. He was sure his father believed he’d hung out at The Club all these years to escape responsibility. However, the truth of the matter was that there hadn’t been enough responsibility set before him.

At the ménage club, he could easily drown his feelings of uselessness in repeated, lustful acts with a willing woman—or two. But no longer. He’d soon be Alpha and he had found his mate in the very place he would never have thought to look.

“You and Trae really had a connection last night, huh?”

Olivia rubbed sleep from her eyes and stared at Kelsey, who was stretched out along the foot of her bed still dressed in her outfit from the night before. She looked at her clock and realised it was only noon—only a few hours had passed since she and her friend had got home from breakfast with two very sexy men after a night she wouldn’t soon forget. Kelsey had crashed on her couch and Olivia had showered quickly and crawled bare-ass beneath her covers. She was still tired. The energetic sound of her friend’s voice after a ‘nap’ didn’t make sense, especially since they’d both been up all night.

“How long have you been up?” Olivia tucked the pillow more comfortably under her head.

“Maybe an hour. I ate your last yoghurt. I need to get ready to head home in a few minutes—I have final rehearsal tonight.” Kelsey was a member of the local ballet company. Six weeks ago, she had auditioned for an international team that was going on a year-long tour through Europe. She might be away even longer, if things worked out well for her.

Soon, her best friend would be gone. Their impending separation had been the driving force behind them fulfilling their wildest fantasies. The last hoorah together for a while. As someone who had spent most of her youth in and out of foster homes, never being adopted, Olivia didn’t have anyone that she could call family. Just Kelsey, a girl she had met in college when she had decided to help out building sets for the spring musical in her sophomore year. Kelsey had been a background dancer, and they had conversed a few times while they sat in the theatre watching the main actors rehearse, soon becoming good friends.

“I hope you plan to get some more sleep.” Olivia snuggled deeper under her blankets. Not for modesty’s sake—over the years, Kelsey’s flamboyance and immodesty had rubbed off on her—but more to get across the point she was trying to return to la-la land.

“Hey!” Kelsey bounced the bed.

Cracking one eye open, Olivia stared at her friend. “What?” she groaned.

“I want the scoop, Liv.” Lying on her side with her head propped on her hand, Kelsey wiggled her blonde eyebrows at her.

“On what?”

Smacking her foot, Kelsey warned, “Don’t play dumb with me.”

“Ouch!” Both her eyes opened as she frowned at her friend. “All right! All right! What do you want to know?”

“Everything! How was your night with Trae and what happened to Anton? I never saw him come back down the stairs. You didn’t kill him with lovin’ did you?” Kelsey joked, now smiling broadly.

Memories of last night’s events came flooding back into Olivia’s tired brain. First, she recalled the passion and the overwhelming driving lust she had felt with Trae and Anton. Her body, aching and tender everywhere, reminded her how well she had been taken care of. She’d actually gone through with it, had a ménage a trois. Then, as a smile began to pull and curl at the corners of her mouth, other images began to rise and she remembered red-hazed eyes and fangs.

Oh, God, Anton had been a vampire. Trae a werewolf. They had both bitten her. Was she one of their servants now? Or both? What did ‘mate’ really mean? She began to shiver.

Pulling the blanket tightly around her chest, she sat up against the headboard.

“You okay? You’re looking a little pale.” Kelsey sat up, too, sitting crossed-legged at the foot of the bed, now.

“I’m f—fine.” She cleared her throat. “I’m fine. Still a little groggy.” Olivia forced a smile to her face as trepidation filled her heart. Last night, there had been no fear, not really, even after she’d discovered who and what they both were. She’d still plunged ahead, yielding her mind and body to the pleasures of the night. Did they put some kind of spell on me?

“Being with two men will do that to you.” Kelsey giggled. “Details. Details!”

How much could she tell her friend? She and Kelsey never kept secrets from each other. Would telling Kelsey place her in danger? Was she in danger? Lifting her hand, she stroked her neck where Anton had bitten her, but didn’t feel any puncture wounds—just a slight soreness, like an old bruise. However, now that she was beginning to think clearly, she could feel a small amount of heat radiating along her back, a throbbing. Trae’s bite. Sliding her hand calmly around her neck to the opposite shoulder, she curled her fingers just over the crest and felt it—a raised, sensitive area, tender to touch. The warmth of it caressed her fingers. Was it infected? She’d have to look at it in the mirror once Kelsey had left. Until she knew more, she had to keep the paranormal elements of the night to herself.

“Come on, sleepy head, give.” Kelsey bounced on the bed again.

“What do you want me to say, Kel? That it was out of this world? That I climaxed so many times last night I couldn’t even think straight?” That part was true. She had experienced a passion like never before, with both men. Except they weren’t men, apparently.

“Hot damn!” Her friend slapped her hands together and laughed. “See, Nervous Nelly, it’s a good thing I didn’t let you chicken out.” Kelsey was smiling broadly. “Trae seemed very into you. He and Diego said they’ve been regulars at The Club for years. You think you’ll do it again?”

Oh, no. She’d got a werewolf and a vampire this time. What would another round bring? There was no telling what other creatures lurked at that place. Waiting. “It was an experience that I don’t think I’ll ever be repeating.”

“Well, I’m glad you did it. Whatever happens to a dream deferred, and all…”

“I don’t think my entering into a ménage was quite what Langston Hughes was talking about.” A dry chuckle broke past her lips.

Waving her hands in the air, Kelsey said, “Maybe not. But you get my drift.”

Olivia shook her head.

“Well, I have to go, so you’ll have to leave the juicy stuff for another time.” Kelsey unfolded her body and stood up.

“Kelsey… Did you notice anything about that place?” she asked, unable to stop herself.

“Like what?” Her friend frowned.

“I don’t know.” She shrugged. “Something strange, different. Maybe like you weren’t yourself?”

Concern crossed Kelsey’s features. “What do you mean, not yourself? Did those guys drug you? Give you a roofie?” Kelsey crossed the few steps along the carpet until she was standing over Olivia, staring into her eyes, assessing.

“No. No. Nothing like that. I wasn’t drugged.” Olivia pulled her knees up to her chest.

“Are you sure? Do remember the night and this morning?” Planting her fist on her hip, Kelsey waited.

“Trust me… I recall everything.” Olivia closed her eyes for a second as pleasure ran along her flesh and made her body shudder. Why was it that, even now, knowing what those two men were, she still could not bury the pleasure she felt? Opening her eyes, she gazed at her friend.

Kelsey must have noticed her response, because she was smiling. “Good. Well, I still have packing and things to do, and rehearsal, but I’m available if you need me.”

Reaching up, Olivia put her arms around her friend. Squeezing her tight, she said, “I’m fine. Don’t worry about me. Make sure you call me tomorrow before you leave.”

Stepping back, Kelsey said, “I will. Take care of yourself while I’m gone.”

Running her hand through her hair, which she was sure was a complete mess, Olivia smiled at Kelsey as she backed up towards the door. “I’m just going to go to work and bury myself in the house for a year or more, until you return.” She said it jokingly, but she was really going to miss Kelsey. Her friend had a grand opportunity, though, one she deserved, and Olivia couldn’t begrudge her that.

“Don’t you dare.” Kelsey wagged her finger at her. “Call Trae? He seemed like a nice guy. Besides, all he did was stare at you during breakfast.”

She’d noticed that, too. There was something between them. Something that pulled at her—a mate—something she didn’t want to analyse right now. “I’ll think about it. Now, go, before they give your part to Tallia McCall.”

“I’d break her legs.” Tallia was Kelsey’s rival in the dance company, a woman who’d also been selected for the tour.

“That’s supposed to be a good thing on the stage.”

“Not if it really happens.” Blowing her a kiss, Kelsey exited the bedroom as Olivia laughed in her wake.

Her laughter subsided as she heard the front door close and the sound of Kelsey’s Camaro’s engine revving and subsequently fading down the street. Dropping the covers, she got up from her bed and padded across the thick carpet to her bathroom. Once inside, she turned the light on and assessed herself in the mirror, something she had been too exhausted to do in the early morning when she had returned home.

Standing there looking at her nude reflection, she didn’t notice anything odd—nothing seemed changed. She moved her gaze from her thighs and continued up past her sex, over her breasts and paused at her neck. There, she saw the small, red marks at the base of her throat, almost completely faded but evidence of Anton’s bite. Reaching up, she touched the skin. Below it she could feel the heavy thumping of her pulse, her carotid artery pushing her life’s blood to her brain. When she stared at her face, everything appeared as it should be, as she had looked all her adult life. Opening her mouth, she checked her teeth, making sure she hadn’t sprouted fangs. Nope—her teeth were not elongated and there were no points at the ends.

She let out a sigh of relief—she really didn’t want to become a vampire.

What about a wolf?

Twisting her upper body at the waist, she gazed at the other bite. Right there, in the muscle above her right shoulder blade, were two half-circles, top and bottom row of teeth. Unlike the bite on her neck, this one was barely healed—it appeared swollen, with red and purple bruising around it. Her brows furrowed. Remarkable, Anton’s mark was practically gone, appearing like two mosquito bites, and Trae’s remained, bold and vivid. Why was that?

Trae’s mark.

He had spoken to her, in her mind.

Trae’s mate. That’s what he had told her.

“What does that mean?” she questioned herself. Pacing the bathroom, she tried to think of every horror movie she’d ever seen, but her archive was small. She wasn’t a big horror fan. Didn’t like scary things, or things that went bump in the night.

Oh, God, when was the next full moon? Would she change? Glancing at her arms, she didn’t notice any additional layers of hair sprouting, of course, and her nails were still trimmed and blunt-cut as she always kept them.

“Olivia, you need to keep calm.” Talking to herself out loud helped her get control of her emotions. Being shuffled from place to place most of her life had left her with only one voice of reason, her own. Taking a deep breath, she filled her lungs with air and held it there until her chest began to burn. Slowly, she let it out. Feeling slightly better, she tried to remember if Trae had said anything else to her.

But the only thing that she could recall was after breakfast, when he had helped her into the passenger seat of Kelsey’s car and told her he’d see her soon. What was soon? Still riding on her euphoric high, she had given him her address and number. Now that she had a moment to think clearly, she regretted her decision.

What was I thinking?

However, she knew she had not been thinking, but feeling. No more. She needed to make sense of all that had happened, including the joy, peace and passion she had felt around Trae.

Some things didn’t make sense. She had never felt that type of connection with previous boyfriends. She could easily blame it on the fact that Trae was not really human, but that would not explain why she hadn’t had the same response to Anton.

“Ahh!” Frustrated by all her musing, she exited the bathroom and put on sweat pants and a T-shirt. Still wanting to sleep, but not believing it was possible at the moment, she went to the living room, where she grabbed the throw blanket from the back of the couch and lay down on the sofa. Maybe Trae would not call or come to see her. Then she could just chalk the night up to a once-in-a-lifetime experience. She didn’t want to think about Trae, Anton or last night’s events anymore. Overdosing on television would help her blot out her actions and just maybe she could fall back to sleep until tomorrow.

The bite on her back pulsed, a reminder that Trae would be hard to forget.

“We’re here, son.” Ziona Wulfene walked into the study beside her husband. His mother was always elegant. As the head female in their pack, she kept herself looking meticulous and sharp in slacks and a blouse. As sophisticated and demure as she appeared, Trae had been witness to her taking down a few female weres who had thought they could steal his father away. She wasn’t weak and could bare her teeth in a flash if provoked.

Trae crossed to his mother and bestowed a kiss on her cheek.

“What’s this all about?” His father waited until his mother had taken a seat on the short couch, then sat beside her.

Trae dragged over a chair from the antique writing desk in the corner of the room and sat across from his parents. “I’ve found my mate.”

His mother’s lips parted in shock as she pressed a hand to her chest.

His father studied him with hazel eyes that matched his own. “Is this some type of game you’re playing, Trae?”

The growl slipped from Trae’s mouth before he could stop it. He hated having his words or actions questioned.

“Romel, what would be his reasons for such a joke?” Ziona found her voice and glanced from her son to her husband.

“Because of the ultimatum I presented Trae with just yesterday.”

“It’s not a joke, Dad.”

“See, darling?” His mother placed her hand over his father’s and squeezed, trying to keep the peace. Something passed between his parents and Trae was sure they were communicating mentally.

He doubted he and his father had made things easy for his mother over the years, both being Alphas. Good thing all his siblings were Betas, otherwise there would have been even more confrontations in their household for her to referee.

“Tell us about her, Trae.”

“Yeah, son. Who is this mate? Where’d you find her? Especially since you spent most of your night at that club.”

Pulling in a large gulp of air to keep him focused and calm, Trae leant back in the small chair. “Amazingly enough, Dad, that’s exactly where she was.”

“So, you’re trying to tell me that despite all the time you’ve spent frolicking about down there, you’ve just now realised this girl is the one? Your mate.”

“She’d never been there before, but if she had, I’m sure I would have noticed her right off.”

“Hmm.” The non-word slipped from his father.

“This is wonderful.” His mother’s greyish-blue gaze lit up with excitement. “When do we get to meet her?”

“It will have to be soon, with the induction ceremony happening at the end of the week,” Romel declared.

Trae briefly cut his gaze to his father, then looked back at his mother. “As is customary, she will be at the ceremony. There just isn’t time to bring her to you before then. Besides, I need to explain to her what to expect and get her consent to join me.”

“Her consent?” his father questioned.

His mother frowned. “Explain things to her? She should understand how things are done, even if she is from a distant pack.”

Taking a moment to stare down at the carpet, Trae gathered his thoughts and formulated his words with care. “She has no understanding of our ways. Olivia is a human.”

“A human?” his father leant forward, placing his forearms on his knees.

It wasn’t as if it was unheard of. There were a few weres in their pack who had found human mates. But it was rare that an Alpha’s mate wasn’t pure-blooded.

Ziona placed a hand on her husband’s shoulder. “Does she know who and what you are?”

“What I am, yes.” He shifted his gaze towards his father. “Not that I am the son of our Alpha and will soon take his place.”

“It is no matter.” His father waved a hand in the air as if he could brush the issue away. “With the second mark, she will not be able to resist the pull between you.”

“She doesn’t have the second mark yet.”

What?” Romel roared, launching his bulk to his feet.

Trae knew his parents were from a different time, when a wolf found his mate and claimed her twice, within hours, to keep all other wolves away, then provided the third mark before the pack soon afterwards.

“Tell us that you have at least marked her once,” his mother said. In their pack, this would be a risky time. If others discovered the mate of an Alpha, another male might attempt to mate with and mark her, stealing her away from the leader and possibly weakening any future offspring. It was hard to get an Alpha male cub from a non-mated pair.

“I’m not a fool. She bears my mark.” Rising, he confirmed, “Soon she will receive my second mark. Prepare the full induction ceremony. By the end of the week I will present her to our pack.”

He began to stroll out of the study, when his father’s voice stopped him. “I pray the Great Spirit grants you favour with her. Or another will still be provided for you that night.”

Without turning around, Trae gave a curt nod and exited the room. Olivia had better be ready, because he had every intention of claiming his mate.

4

Olivia closed the dishwasher door and started the cycle. She stretched her arms over her head. She was tired. That morning, she’d got up early and rushed over to Kelsey’s apartment to help her friend get her things packed and loaded onto the moving truck. She wasn’t needed there—Kelsey had hired movers to help her, and had already promised to call her before she left—but she couldn’t take another moment alone in her house. Of course, she knew that she was only running away, not wanting to be at home if Trae showed up. However, she’d dispensed with those nagging thoughts and stayed with Kelsey until she got into the cab to head to the airport to meet the other dancers.

Now, gratefully worn out, she was ready to crawl into bed. Tomorrow she could drown herself in articles and magazine layouts. Turning off the light in the kitchen, she entered the living room and turned off the television.

Open the door, Olivia. The rich, masculine voice in her mind startled her.

Frozen in her living room, she didn’t have to wonder who was speaking to her. It had been almost two full days since she’d seen Trae, but she could never forget his voice—the sexy timbre that caressed her internally. Besides, he was the only one who could speak in her head.

She tried not to think, knowing that he could hear her thoughts as well. Maybe if she pretended not to be home, he would just go away.

Sweetheart, let me in. The bite on her shoulder began to throb.

All day, it hadn’t even tingled and she had convinced herself that it was healing and would soon go away, just like Trae. Now, she knew that wasn’t the case.

It was foolish to hide in her apartment like a scared child. She was a grown woman and if she didn’t want to have anything to do with a man—or werewolf—any longer, then she would boldly explain it to him.

With a determined stride, she reached the door and pulled it open.

Trae stood there on her porch, sexy and captivating. His brown hair was wild, untamed. The urge to press her body against his and run her fingers into the soft silk assailed her.

“Hello, beautiful.” Today he was dressed in slacks and a button-down shirt, no snug leather, but still attractive.

Finding her voice, she said, “Trae. Most people call before they come by someone’s house.” She crossed her arms over her chest and stared at him.

His diverting hazel gaze travelled down the length of her body, taking in her tank top and faded denim skirt. The outfit decently covered her body, but the heat from Trae’s gaze made her feel as if more than her arms and legs were bare.

“Ahem.” She cleared her throat.

His lips tilted and one side lifted in a half-smile as his gaze met hers. “May I come in?”

“It’s late. I was about to go to bed.”

The smile claimed both sides of his mouth this time and his hazel eyes darkened to a forest green.

Damn it, why did I say that? she thought.

Do you want me to answer that?

“No, I don’t.” She pointed a finger at his head. “Stop doing that. And stop looking at me like you want to eat me up.”

“I have already and would do it again with relish.” His words stroked her senses and turned her insides to mush and her legs to jelly.

“Trae…” she pleaded, her body begging. She groaned. She needed to get herself together and set him straight.

Before she could say anything, he brushed past her and entered her apartment. “We need to talk.”

The nerve. Left with no other choice but to shut the door, Olivia turned and followed him into the living room. “Look, Trae. Friday night was a blast, but I don’t think a relationship between us would—”

“Sit,” he commanded.

Cocking her head to the side and lifting an eyebrow, she eyed him, ready to give him a piece of her mind.

“Please, sit, Olivia.” This time there was less authority in his voice and it sounded more like a request.

Deciding it would be quicker to get him out of her apartment if she let him speak his piece, she took a seat on the couch and watched him as he stood on the other side of her coffee table.

“What is it that you believe is so important that we must talk?”

“There’s a lot that you need to know and understand about me,” Trae began.

“Such as?”

“My name is Trae Wulfene and I am the oldest son of my pack’s Alpha.” Trae started to pace across from her. “Being the son of the Alpha is a hard position, especially as an Alpha male myself.”

“What’s makes someone an Alpha? Is it like royalty? You’ll be a king because your father was king, kind of thing?” She was having difficulty grasping most of what he was trying to tell her. His verbiage, his way of life, was all new to her.

“Yes and no. An Alpha is just like what humans define it as—the leader of the pack. Not only that, but to us weres it is also the dominant male, the fiercest and strongest of all other males.”

“So, what makes this hard for you? Lots of men rule alongside their fathers.”

Stopping for a moment, he looked back at her. “There can only be one leader of a pack. Other Alpha males that are a part of our pack may be given a small jurisdiction, or a division of the company to manage, but they still answer to my father.”

“Is the same true for you?”

“No.” He started moving again. “As the Alpha son of the pack Alpha, everyone knows I will lead the pack after my father.”

“I’m not sure I understand.” She rested against the back of the couch.

“I do work at our company, but think of it this way; I’m in a long internship programme. There’s only one spot available for me, but someone else is in that seat—my father.”

“You don’t have to wait for him to die, do you?” She couldn’t imagine working side by side with a parent and knowing that her progress depended on their demise.

“Occasionally, that happens, but most Alphas retire at some point, when it is determined that the next in line is ready. They remain on in an advisory position.”

“Does your father have any plans to step down?”

Halting his movements, he said, “Yes. He’s currently in the process of turning everything over to me. We have an elder pack in Oklahoma that needs his assistance and experience.”

“You’re not leaving, are you?” Her heart seemed to sink in her chest at the thought, even though she tried to tell herself it didn’t matter. After tonight, Trae would be out of her life anyway.

Giving her a devilish smile, he said, “I’m not going anywhere.”

His words seemed loaded, as if he was talking about more than a move to another state.

“My dad is stepping down at the end of the week, the day after my induction ceremony.”

“Well, congratulations. I wish you much success, Trae.” She started to rise from the couch.

“That’s not all, sweet rabbit.”

He was starting up with the nickname again. Every time he said it, the word was laced with such sensual undertones it made her blood heat up and her panties wet.

Pushing aside her reaction, she plopped back down on the cushion and asked, “What does any of this have to do with me?”

“A were can’t be Alpha without a mate by his side to help him lead the pack and ensure its growth.”

A sense of foreboding filled the pit of her stomach and she began to tremble. “And…w—what…?” She swallowed. “What does this have to do with me?”

“I never expected to find you at The Club, and on the last night I’d planned to be there.” Piercing hazel eyes met hers, then slowly moved down her body and returned. “But there you were. I told you, darling rabbit—you’re my mate.”

Oh, God, he was serious.

Yes, I am. His eyes darkened, became more intense.

Licking her lips, she rested a shaky hand on the side of her face. “So, now what? You tell your wolfen family you found me? We date and see what happens…right?”

“Wrong.” Trae assumed a casual stance, slipping his hands into the pockets of his slacks as if he had all the time in the world to be there. “As my mate, you have to be there. At the induction. Our final bond is part of the ceremony.”

“Our bond?” Why did that seem ominous? Springing up from the couch, she said, “I hope that doesn’t mean I have to have sex with you in front of your furry clan.”

“Pack.” He chuckled, the sound deep and robust. “The last mark is not conducted during the sexual act. Its purpose is to signify to the other pack members we are one, and it triggers the altering of your genetic make-up.”

“Which means…?” She prayed he was not about to say what she thought he was going to say.

“You’ll shift and take your wolf form during the following full moon.”

Shit, he had said it.

It was her turn to pace. “Ohmygod, this can’t be happening.” Her movements were erratic. One second she was walking in front of the couch, then she was behind the couch, then before her living room window, then back walking the carpet by the couch. “You’re telling me I’m going to be a wolf, running on four legs and hunting the mountains for my meals?”

“Not quite. We go on several runs a month, but we only hunt for special occasions, like the induction ceremony. I’ll be required to make a kill. However, as you witnessed yesterday at breakfast, we are perfectly capable of eating regular food, at the table, with civilised manners.”

He was right, of course—he and Diego had ordered and eaten mammoth amounts of pancakes and sausages, while she and Kelsey had eaten normal portions.

Could she do this? Become a wolf and leave everything she’d ever known behind? Looking around her apartment, there wasn’t much significance to her life. There were no pictures of family or siblings littering the tables and walls. Her phone never rang, unless it was Kelsey, which wasn’t an issue now, with her best friend out of the country.

All her life, she’d been an outsider. A loner. There had never been any family reunions or Christmases gathered around a fireplace en masse. She’d always yearned to be a part of something, to be a part of a family unit. It was possible for her to finally have a chance at that. Her stomach ached, her chest felt tight and her eyes burned…to have someone care about her, consider her. Running her hand over her head, she allowed herself to imagine her life as more than half an existence. It was such a far-fetched vision she couldn’t. She couldn’t see what she’d never experienced. Something that had only been a fiction she’d seen on television shows and in films.

But, she wanted to believe. With everything in her, she wanted to believe it was possible for her.

So many questions began to run through her mind. Would the change hurt? Would I be sick afterwards?

Then reality invaded. She couldn’t do this. Her job—she’d worked hard for her position at the magazine.

“I can’t do this!”

“You have no choice.”

That wasn’t entirely true. Trae knew he was exaggerating a bit. Since he had only marked Olivia once, she was still free to go. Even with the mate connection, if she never saw him again, the mind link would fade with time. It was only the bond of the second mark that would keep her from ever leaving him—that link was so strong that if either died, the other would soon follow.

She stopped striding along the carpet and gazed at him with her soft, brown eyes. “What do you mean, I have no choice?”

“We’re mated, beautiful rabbit. You’re mine and I will not let you go.” He crossed his arms over his chest.

“Can’t you just choose someone else?” Her arms waved around beside her. “There’s got to be some available Wulfene pack bitch that’s more than willing to mate with you.”

He couldn’t help but smile at her choice of words. “Even if there were, I cannot risk the vitality of my children.”

The skin between her eyebrows tightened, concern shadowing her gaze. “How would their strength be in jeopardy?”

Seeing the worry on her face at the mention of children struck him in the centre of his chest. It was possible that he had discovered the avenue to convince her to be with him. Children, a family? With all the questions and concerns that had been volleying in her mind, he knew she hadn’t been worried about parents or siblings. Just Kelsey, whom he knew by her thoughts was gone, and her job.

Allowing her to hear the sincerity in his words, he explained, “In my pack, every male and female is raised to understand the significance of finding their one true mate—the strength of the offspring. Often, a pair joins together through love or responsibility when they are not mates. Any children produced by them are healthy. However, they will never excel in strength, agility or wisdom, like the children of mated matches.”

Lowering her head, she stared at her hands as they rubbed involuntarily together while she remained silent.

“As the Alpha, Olivia, I must produce an heir who will be able to take my place when it is time. Say you’ll do this with me,” he implored.

“I like my job at the magazine. I’m finally doing what I love.” Her gaze rose. “I don’t want to leave my job.”

He could hear the apprehension in her voice and the anxiety filling her brown eyes pulled at his heart.

“You won’t have to. Everyone in my pack works with and around humans. Even headquarters is in Asheville, we just choose to live deeper in the Blue Ridge Mountains— more privacy.”

He could feel some of the panic leave her mind. She was beginning to analyse the possibilities. It was time to seize the opportunity, before other doubts began to creep up.

“Say you’ll be with me, my rabbit.” He held a hand out to her. He needed her to come to him willingly. “Join with me. I can’t make you take this next step. As much as I would like to, our laws and nature forbid it.” As much as it was a risk to confess this to her, he had to tell her the truth. “There’s no glamour or subterfuge, just me. Right here.” Taking a deep breath he let out the rest of the words. “If you come to me now, there will be no turning back, Olivia, ever. You must understand this.”

Holding her gaze with his own, he didn’t allow her a chance to break their connection.

Olivia only hesitated for a moment before she rounded the table and moved towards him.

When she finally stood before him and slipped her soft hand into his, he sighed with relief. There were two things his body desired—to bury himself deep inside her and to sink his teeth into her flesh.

“I’m not sure what I’m getting myself into, Trae, but I can’t deny that I want to be with you.”

“Don’t worry, I will guide you every step of the way.” Pulling her against him, he wrapped his arms around her sexy form. The breast-hugging tank-top and her short skirt had been driving him insane since she’d opened the door. It had taken everything in him to keep his mind focused on what he needed to explain to her, instead of pressing her up against the nearest wall and slipping his cock into her wet heat.

“That’s what I’m counting on.” For the first time that night, she smiled at him, making her face radiant, allowing him to see the sensual woman she had been that night at The Club.

His desire amped up, pushing him fast towards erotic madness. He needed to have sex with her, now, before his beast took over, disregarding the fact she was human, and took her hard, unleashing a fierce ardour that could hurt her.

“Kiss me,” he commanded, his voice rough and urgent.

Sliding her hands into his hair, she rose on her toes and pressed her breasts to his chest and her lips to his. Even though his cock was hard, his blood raging and his body vibrating with desire, he restrained himself and allowed Olivia to lead the kiss.

When he parted his lips and her tongue brushed across his, wet and supple, his self-control broke. He couldn’t wait any longer. Deepening the kiss, he entered her mouth, tasting her and forcing her tongue to submit to his. He nipped the plump centre of her bottom lip, causing her to gasp and moan as he licked it, soothing the sting. Enjoying the sound of her shock and pleasure, he sealed his mouth to hers again and coaxed her tongue into his mouth. As he suckled her tongue, he slipped one of his hands beneath her shirt and into her bra, cupping her breast.

The warm weight filled his hand as the point of her nipple pressed against his palm. Squeezing and fondling her breast, he delighted in the shivers that ran through her. He lowered his other hand to her ass, pressing her against his aching cock. The scent of her arousal was permeating the air—with his canine sense of smell, the heady aroma became so intense he could almost taste it.

Olivia ground her pelvis against him as she caressed the sensitive spot behind his ear with her nails. The scrape sent an electric bolt of lust from his head to his balls and caused his dick to harden more, pressing painfully against his zip.

“On the floor,” he growled.

Pulling away from her, he could see the excitement and a little trepidation in her gaze. However, there was no longer time for tenderness or mellifluous words—his beast would push him until he was inside her. He’d heard about the intensity of the second marking, but never having experienced it before he was just as swept away in the maelstrom of desire as Olivia.

Despite her obvious apprehension, he felt a sense of peace that she still trusted him as she lowered herself to the ground. Joining her, he knelt before her as he snatched his shirt over his head. She removed her top, and her bra as well.

“Lovely.” He admired her breasts, enjoying the sight of her beautiful obsidian skin with the dark chocolate tips. Leaning down, he tasted them, licking and nipping at the peaks, then laving them, careful with her fragile, human flesh. Soon she would become used to the loving style of weres. They loved to nip and bite each other during loving and play, sometimes to the point of pain that intensified their coupling and their orgasms.

His kisses moved from her breasts to her neck, then he took her by the waist and turned her around. Once her back was to him, he admired the swollen, tender mark of his first bite. In the two days since he’d created it, it had slowly begun to heal and close up. Now his teeth marks were barely evident. After tonight, the mark would be vivid again, and once he’d marked her for the third time, the scar would be permanent—the only scar her body would ever carry.

Placing a hand in the centre of her shoulder blades, he pressed her towards the floor. Understanding what he desired, she positioned herself on her hands and knees. Moving between her parted legs, he made quick work of unfastening his slacks and shoving them down to his thighs. His cock jutted forward, insistent, a bead of pre-cum on the head.

In a flash, he yanked the hem of her skirt up to her waist and tore her thong and tossed it aside. His beast would have no hindrance to its claiming. Parting her ass and thighs wide, he witnessed her level of arousal in the wet evidence coating her pussy. Angling the crown of his shaft to her opening, he pushed forward. A growl rumbled deep in his chest at the slick, snug feel of her sex. Scarcely inside her, he paused, took a deep breath, allowing the sweet fragrance of his delectable rabbit to beguile him. Then he pushed forward, hard and sure as he forced space for his hard cock along her tight walls. He didn’t stop until her round, toned ass was cushioned against his hips.

She screamed and trembled as she threw her head back in ecstasy. Rotating her hips, she situated him deeper inside her. It was all he needed to know she was okay. On and on, he pounded into her as he squeezed her hips for purchase.

Lowering her shoulders to the ground, Olivia met his thrusts, bouncing her ass against him and calling his name. “Trae… Trae…”

Yes, Olivia. Take it, baby. Give yourself to me, he transmitted to her, through mental waves. He was beyond physical speech—with his wolf in full force, he was incapable of anything other than growls and roars.

Her pussy clenched around him, allowing him to feel the frequent flutters of her sexual muscles as her orgasm built. His hold on her was so strong he knew she would have bruises on her ass and hips by morning.

As his own climax neared, causing a golden haze of pleasure to cloud his vision, he leaned on his sense of smell and touch.

When Olivia climaxed, the perfume of her gratification erupted in the air and covered him like a blanket as her body quaked before him. Her sex gripped his steely length, but he continued to pump into her with single-minded determination. As his body began to release inside her, he lowered himself onto her, pressing his chest along her back. Wrapping an arm around her waist to keep himself locked deep inside her, he sank his teeth into her shoulder muscle as he’d done before.

She was his now, forever.

You are mine, he declared as his transferred saliva entered her body.

I am yours, she replied, still trembling as she moaned, climaxing once again.

Now no other male, human or otherwise, would be able to come near her with lustful intentions. That solved the problem if that damn vamp, Anton, decided to come flying around Olivia looking for seconds.

Standing before her closet, Olivia attempted to decide what to wear. In her room, her closet was the only thing she had yet to pack up. Olivia had been shocked by how fast the week had rushed by. It was already Friday and they were just hours away from Trae’s induction. She had taken the day off to get herself pampered and prepped from head to toe. She had been buffed, fluffed and waxed bare everywhere from the neck down. Today would be a day of firsts. The first time she would meet her in-laws, the first time she would meet Trae’s pack family and the start of the transformation for her first shift as a wolf. The next full moon wasn’t expected for two weeks—the pink moon, also known as the seed moon. Trae had said it was a good sign, and many babies were conceived during that moon. She knew he was hoping that it would be true for them, as well.

Over the last week, she had seen Trae each night when he had stopped by after work to help her pack her things and explain more of his culture and origins to her. She loved the pack’s tie to the Cherokee Nation. For years she had wondered if there was Native blood in her family, especially since people always commented on her jet-black hair and her high cheekbones, but not knowing her parents and her lineage it would remain a mystery. Trae thought it might be true simply because she was his mate and matches didn’t form out of thin air, and he’d convinced her.

She didn’t care one way or the other, as long as he was in her life. All her fear had dissipated. It wasn’t that she was not anxious about tonight and the importance of everything that would take place, but it was all overshadowed by the fact that when she opened her eyes in the morning she would be part of a family. A big family. A family of two hundred, including distant relatives in Oklahoma.

During the week, every time she thought of it, she had gone from tears to giddy, excited laughter. Nothing—except for Trae—meant more to her than that.

On Monday, she had heard from Kelsey and had a chance to tell her best friend that Trae had come over and she was going to ‘marry’ him on Friday. She didn’t know how to explain to her friend the truth of what was going on. Hell, it was hard for her to comprehend, let alone transfer that information to someone else. Kelsey had been shocked, but had told her she was happy for her and would support her.

Despite all her friend’s theatrics, Kelsey was a romantic. Kelsey believed that Olivia and Trae had fallen madly in love and he had swept her up in a whirlwind affair, all the way to the altar. Olivia had allowed her friend to believe it. It was partly true. In the week she’d had to accept her destiny and get to know Trae—a man who was strong, dependable, considerate and a damn good, passionate lover—she’d given her heart to him as well as her body.

She didn’t think the same was true for him. He was an Alpha male, whose sole concern was leading his pack and providing a strong next generation. There was no doubt in her mind that he would protect her and care for her. As he’d explained, not only did his mark bind her to him, but him to her as well. So, she was okay with that and prayed he would grow to love her one day, too.

Perhaps one day she would also be able to tell Kelsey the whole truth. She thought that her friend, who knew how she had yearned for a family over the years, would understand.

She pulled out an off-the-shoulder tunic dress in forest green, the same deep colour as Trae’s eyes when they were intense and filled with desire. Early that morning, he had told her to make sure that she wore something that revealed his mark on her back. All the pack members would be looking to see whether she proudly displayed it, especially since she was human.

Laying the dress on the bed, she headed to the shower for the second time that day. Even though being at a spa was relaxing, she always felt icky after having so many hands on her. After her shower, she added a lightly-scented lotion to her body. There was an advantage to being able to hear her man’s thoughts. She knew that Trae enjoyed her scent, the natural musk of her own body. She didn’t want to mask that, especially not tonight. Even though sex wasn’t part of the third marking, she still wanted to be inviting to him.

She filled her hair with curls, then piled it high on the crown of her head, ensuring it did not obstruct the view of her shoulder. After slipping on a matching thong, she put the dress on, making sure it sagged over her right shoulder. Turning, she checked her back—the mark could be clearly seen, even though it was now faint, appearing to be an old bruise. She had to admit to herself that she was looking forward to having his mark on her permanently.

The final touches to her outfit were gold, dangly, leaf-shaped earrings and gold, high-heeled sandals. Lip gloss was her only facial enhancement.

Hello my delicious, rabbit.

Shivers of heat danced along her spine at Trae’s voice. She still wasn’t sure how she felt about being referred to as something her mate might consider a meal.

She heard him chuckle in her head as she moved through her apartment to the front door. Would this man never use a doorbell?

Opening the door, she saw him standing there in a black suit and a tie that matched his eyes and her dress. He was so sexy and appealing she wanted to rip the suit off him and beg him to take her, right there and then.

Eyeing his green tie, she said, “Did you read my mind?”

“Just luck. Damn, you look good, Olivia. I don’t know if I’m going to make it through the night.” Rushing across the threshold, he swept her up in his arms and kissed her.

Sighing with satisfaction, she submitted fully to the kiss. Trae encircled her waist with his hands and slipped them down to the slope of her ass, cupping each cheek. The dress might have been loose at the top, but it was snug around her hips to mid-thigh, where it ended. She was glad the material was light, because she could feel every caress and squeeze of his hands.

Unable to help herself, she ground her sex against his hardening cock.

Fuck, I wish I had time to make love to you and that we were alone.

We are alo—

Before she could finish her thought, someone cleared his throat. Since Trae’s tongue was in her mouth it couldn’t be him.

Moving her mouth away from Trae’s, she stared at him.

“Olivia, I’m sure you remember Diego,” Trae said.

Stepping back from Trae’s embrace, she looked past him to the other man who had entered her apartment. She was astonished how her mind and body became completely captivated and solely focused on Trae, disregarding everything and everyone around her. She wondered if it would always be like that.

It will ease up after the third marking and not be so all-consuming. But it will never go away.

That’s good to know.

“Diego, it’s good to see you again.” A little embarrassed, she smiled at him, feeling the heat in her cheeks.

“A grand pleasure, Olivia.” He glanced over at Trae with a sly smile. “I’d hug you, but I think even that would be too much for the Alpha dog to handle.”

Trae growled.

She gave Diego a conspiratorial wink.

Trae growled again, louder this time.

Olivia laughed. Don’t worry, it will get better after the third marking, she joked, mentally giving him his own words back.

“If you give me your car keys, Olivia, I’ll get it to the house and meet you guys at the ceremony grounds,” Diego said.

“Are these the suitcases you’re taking with you?” Trae pointed to the luggage in the hallway.

Crossing to her purse on the coffee table, she pulled out her car keys. “That’s it. There are a few more things that I need to move to the house, but they can wait until next week when I come out to meet the charity truck for the furniture and dishes.” Anything that wasn’t a personal item to her, like her clothes, her old college memorabilia or anything work-related, she was donating to a shelter for battered women in town.

“Perfect.” Diego took the keys from her, then went and picked up her suitcases and headed towards the door. “I’ll see you two in an hour or so.”

“Thanks, Diego.” Trae patted the man on the shoulder as he passed.

“No problem.” Diego left the apartment.

Staring at her from across the room, Trae appeared to be warring with himself about what to do. When his hazel eyes trailed along her body, she knew what was on his mind. The same thing that was on hers. Sex. But they had to go—she didn’t want to show up late on the first night she would meet his parents and his pack.

“I don’t want to go, but we have to.”

“I know.” She agreed, taking in deep breaths to keep her pulse down.

“Are you ready, Olivia?”

Biting the side of her lip, she tried to keep her anxiety from showing, to put on a brave face.

“You’ll be fine. They will all love you as much as I do.”

Her breath was trapped in her lungs and her voice was stuck in her throat. “You love me?” she croaked.

Giving her a devastating smile that was both lopsided and as sexy as hell, Trae confirmed, “Of course I love you, Olivia.”

“Because I’m your mate?” She took a hesitant step towards him.

He crossed the room, but left a small gap between them. “No. Because the moment you walked into The Club you captivated me. No matter what had happened that night, it would have been hard for me not to want you in my life.”

Her throat felt tight and her eyes were burning. She wanted so badly for him to hold her.

“You know I’d take you in my arms if I could, but my urge for you is too strong and this night too important for both of us.”

“I understand.” She gave him a watery smile.

“Then let’s get out of here.”

Nodding, Olivia walked past him and out of her apartment. Her heart felt full. Tonight was going to be the start of her living and not just going through the motions.

“You are a beautiful woman, Olivia,” Ziona Wulfene greeted her as she got out of the car. It was dark outside, and if it hadn’t been for the lanterns hung through the trees, Olivia wouldn’t have been able to see her hand before her face.

Olivia stared at the woman, the highest ranked female of the pack at the moment, Trae’s mother. She was graceful and sophisticated in her charming black-and-white print dress with a red belt. Her feet were bare, but Olivia was sure the woman had a pair of fantastic red heels to match. She couldn’t help but wonder if she would ever carry herself with such elegance and class as Ziona.

Having removed her own shoes in the car, as Trae had instructed her, Olivia moved closer to his mother. “It’s very nice to meet you, Mrs Wulfene.”

Waving her hand away, Ziona said, “Please don’t even bother with formalities—you will be my daughter after tonight. Call me Mother, or Ziona if it’s more comfortable.” The older woman pulled her into a hug.

The embrace was so fierce and strong, Olivia allowed herself a moment to relax against the pack mother and accept the affection. Something she had never had from anyone except Kelsey, and now Trae.

Pulling back, Olivia smiled at her. “I’d like to call you ‘Mother’, if you don’t mind.”

“Perfect.” Grabbing Olivia’s hand, she turned to her son. “Trae. I’m very proud of you this night.” When Trae rounded the front of the car and stood before them, his mother kissed him on the cheek.

“Then let’s not keep them waiting.” Trae took Olivia’s free hand and squeezed it.

Olivia looked down at their joined hands, and at the hand his mother still held, and was filled with happiness. She allowed them to lead her through the trees and onto a short path through the woods. The echo of a multitude of voices announced that they were nearing the others way before they broke through the trees and into a large clearing. It was well-lit, with more lanterns on tall poles spiked into the ground. It looked like a huge family reunion, with tents on the outskirts of the group billowing out the delicious aromas of various types of food.

As if sensing they had arrived, the group parted and created an opening to the centre of the circle, where two men stood. One of the men was at least six-foot-three in height, broad-shouldered and with the same colouring and stance as Trae—indomitable. The other man was shorter, with long, jet-black hair that reached his ankles, and he wore the garb of an ancient shaman.

Ziona and Trae didn’t pause or speak to anyone as they maintained a steady pace towards the two men.

“My son.” The tallest man placed a hand on Trae’s shoulder.

Trae’s mother released her hand, kissed her on the cheek, then moved to stand next to her husband.

“My Alpha, may I present my mate to you and to our pack?” Trae’s voice was strong and clear.

“You may.” Trae’s father looked from his son to Olivia.

Olivia’s heart began to beat faster. What if this man doesn’t like me? She hadn’t looked around, but she was sure among the massive crowd there would be were females who might have been a better choice.

But not my mate, Trae declared. “This is Olivia, the one the Great Spirit has chosen for me.”

“I, Romel Wulfene, welcome you to our pack, Olivia. I am sure you will lead well beside my son.” Romel didn’t smile, or hug her, but his hazel eyes were filled with pride.

“Thank you. I will do my best to put my Alpha first and care for our pack.” Olivia recited the words Trae had instructed her to say. As she stood there beside the man she loved, she could feel the stares of the people around her. Her back felt as if it was on fire, knowing everyone was observing her mark—Trae’s mark.

“We honour the selection of the Great Spirit.” The shaman appeared small and frail beside the large Alpha wolf, but his voice boomed and carried across the sea of people. “Olivia shall be received and accepted by all.”

Cheers and howls went up around her and, for the first time, she looked away from the small group in the centre of the circle and allowed her gaze to roam the faces of the Wulfene pack members, her new family.

The shaman continued to speak. “Let the induction begin!” He spoke a chant over her and Trae, speaking in a language that sounded both foreign and ancient to Olivia’s ears. Then he pulled a small phial out of his hip pouch and smeared an oily substance on Trae’s forehead. The smell reminded her of combination of ginseng and cedar wood.

When the shaman had finished, all the men began to head towards a dark tent almost hidden by trees. Trae turned to her, his gaze intense and practically glowing with excitement. “Stay with my mother and the other women—I’ll be back soon.”

“I’ll be waiting.” With one last look, Trae followed the other were males into the tent. Olivia knew that he was headed out on his hunt. The other men would go with him, a show of support and confidence in their new leader. He would kill an animal, then share it with his pack, a sign that he would provide for them through strength, cunning and wisdom.

“Well, my daughter, it is time for you to meet the women of the Wulfene pack,” Ziona said, stepping in front of her.

Inhaling, Olivia said, “I’d like that.”

Lowering her voice, Ziona said, “My only advice to you is never to lower your gaze to any of them. Always show fortitude. I am sure tonight you will not have any problems, but a day will come that a female wolf will attempt to test you. If you even think you have been challenged or disrespected, strike fast and strike hard. It will make that one think twice before testing you and the other females will get the message, too.”

Olivia had to remember that even though these people had the faces and build of humans, they were more a part of the animal kingdom. She would be of the same make-up after tonight and her first full-moon shift.

“I heard your words.” Olivia kept her eyes locked with Ziona’s, not allowing her gaze to waver.

“Well done.” She smiled and led Olivia towards the first group of women.

Trotting back to the ceremony grounds, Trae felt invigorated, confident, strong and aroused. Shifting from his wolf form to human, he entered the changing tent nude. The other men began to flow inside, each locating his garments. After his successful kill of a buck, the only thing that he wanted to do now was see Olivia. Donning his slacks and leaving everything else in the tent, he exited out of the other side into the large clearing. The women were crowded around, drinking and laughing as they waited for the men. It would take him too long to look for her. Instead, he called her.

Show yourself, my lovely rabbit. As the words left his mind, he saw a shift from the corner of his eye. Glancing over, he saw her step away from a cluster of women. Other than that, she didn’t move, just stared at him and waited.

The conversation of his pack halted. He could feel the tense expectation in the air. With purposeful strides, he ate up the ground between them. Stopping before her, he allowed his gaze to caress her attractive, ebony face, admiring her gentle beauty. In her soft, brown eyes, he could see the confidence of a she-wolf, a confidence she had already gained in the two hours he had been away. She would do excellently well by his side.

“How was your kill, Trae?” she asked.

“Behold your Alpha.” He knew she would understand and know that he had succeeded. “Welcome your mate.”

Closing the gap between them, she placed her hands on his bare chest and kissed him passionately in front of his pack. When he pulled away, his wolf growled inside him. He wanted Olivia, but this was not the time. Later, when he had her at his home and all to himself.

Circling her once, until he was behind her, he lifted his hand and traced the faint discolouration of his second mark. He loved the feel of her silky skin underneath his fingers. Inhaling deeply, Trae enjoyed the smell of her body, her arousal—a combination of sweet amber and natural musk. Slipping his arms around her waist, he said, “I claim you, Olivia Wulfene, as my mate.”

Lowering his head, he sank his canines into her flesh and felt her body tremble against his as she moaned.

His cock was hard, pressed along the crease of her ass, but he didn’t release her, only held her tighter with his arms and his teeth. He needed to ensure the full exchange took place. Olivia lifted her right hand and cupped the back of his head, clutching him to her.

“I love you, Trae,” she whispered in a husky voice. Her knees went weak, and she sagged against him.

Once the third and final mark was done, he slowly licked the wound, sealing it. Tossing his head back, he howled his joy and satisfaction from the depths of his soul. His pack members joined in.

Turning Olivia around, he held her waist with sure hands, still mindful that her body was unsteady. Looking into the eyes of the woman who had unexpectedly walked into a club and become his mate, he declared, “I am yours forever.”

Raising shaky hands, she slipped them around his neck. “I would never have it any other way,” she confessed as she ran her fingers along the back of his ears, giving him a wicked, alluring look. “How long did you say we had to stay?”

His wolf was panting with need at her touch. “Keep that up, and you’ll find yourself on the ground in the middle of the forest with this pretty green dress tossed into a tree.”

Pushing her bottom lip out, giving him a sexy pout, she said, “I guess it would be bad form to disappear from our own celebration. People would talk.”

To hell with it. “I’m the Alpha. Let them.” Hoisting her up onto his shoulder, with one hand on her ass keeping her in place, Trae stalked off into the woods to a private revelry with his mate.
